Jeffy Cheating Again??

Jeffy Cheating Again??

Post by Rich Bemb » Sat, 30 Mar 1996 04:00:00

What's this I hear about Jeff (Squeaky Clean) Gordon cheating again.  I don't
know my friend's sources on this story but he told me a rather interesting tale
last night:

A friend of mine asked me about a little incident at Darlington regarding a
missing fuel filter from JG's fuel cell and NASCAR only gives him a spank on
the back of the wrist and he get's to keep his win?

(The upshot of this is that the mass of the filter would have allowed him
about an extra gallon of gas in the cell...knowwutImean?)

Has anyone heard anything on this or can anyone expand upon it?

Rich

I heard the same thing to except it went something like this:  After the
cell was removed, a nameless NASCAR official found it embedded in Gov.
Connley's wrist.

It was the man in the grassy knoll!  He shot it out with 2 laps left in
the race.

Can't be as bad as winning the Brickyard 400 with a car 200 lbs
underweight like he did in 94...oh that was just a
rumor..right...NASCAR has got to get some guts...unless of course they
wanna be thought of in the same light as championship wrestling.

There is no fuel filter in the fuel cell.  The only items in the fuel cell are
foam blocks which keep the fuel from sloshing.

If one of the foam blocks had been hollowed out, many, many teams have been
caught doing this, the result may have been one gallon if al the blocks were
involved (there are at least six in each fuel cell).....

I am constantly amazed at how these cheating rumors swirl around Gordon.

For some reason...cheating or not, Jeff Gordon's car is definitely
better than most.  IMHO, Jeff's team has found a loophole and are
using it to the max.  And why not ?
