Spencer wins lap 180!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know I happen to like Spencer and I even like his all out style
.......(sometimes)
but will he ever learn that you win the race on the last lap?
Why doesn't he seem to be able to grasp that you don't try to drive
beyond the limitations of the car?

It's like the Wizard of Oz...........  If I only had a brain.

Rappy,

Didnt he lose it in some oil? Is that what you are referring to? I only
caught bits and pieces of the race.

I'm betting you were rooting him on, even tho he passed Jeff to get
there.

Hold on there....He has HAD to try and drive beyond the limitations
due to the crapola Travis Carter has been preparing for him.  Then
when he finally gets a decent piece AND some breaks to go with it....
he drove the heck out of it.
That car was going to be 20 feet wide for the remainder of the race.
My *** is Nascar waiting until someone slips in the oil....

He may not have won it, but I enjoyed watching Jimmy out front, and
the crowd reaction.....
Mr E***ment lives up to the name ;-)

I read this morning, that if nothing confirms for Cup next year, Jimmy
will run his Busch car, he'll keep on racing. I like that attitude, he
doesn't NEED to stay with Carter's team, he's made some options for
himself, and he'll keep right on racing.

And can you get any more honest in an interview. No excuses. NO BULL !

GO 'HEAD JIMMY ...... there's more where that came from.

But.........he was the only one who lost it.

No.....he had to try to get the best finish he could.
Once Spencer gets a sniff of the lead at any track his brain
switches off.
I have seen it time and time again............

You said it.  I'd bet my last dollar that our street stock has more power than
most of the engine's Jimmy's been getting.  Jimmy's motto (and mine) is and
always has been "Go Big or Stay Home."  When he finally got an engine that
actually held up the whole race, and that could compete, he ran with it.  Being
a ProMotor engine, he still had to push that thing harder than I bet Martin,
Labonte, Gordon et al had to push theirs, just to stay up front.  I sincerely
hope that whatever team he ends up w/ next year will give him some motors that
he can do something with week-in and week-out.  Not this "once in a blue moon"
crud from ProMotors.

Picture this, Kenny Irwin get's the boot and Jimmy Spencer inherits the 28
ride.
Now he has a decent team, a great engine, and a loyal sponsor.

Regards

Dave

I'd love to see a move like that to put Jimmy in the 28. One big thing that
is holding Jimmy back is his marketability, he made comments about this in a
recent interview (I found it from a link on Jayski). If a sponser sees a 30+
year old, somewhat overweight, and a less than politically correct way of
talking, they aren't gonna want there company represented by him. Too bad
for Jimmy...I think he would be a consistent runner with a good team.

I really think Spencer had to drive his car on the edge to stay up front.
It's not like his setup compares with Hendrick, Yates or Roush equipment.
Its not like he is saving his car in a championship points battle either. In
his position opportunities to win are few and far in between, so with 20
laps to go he was racing the track, in order to stay ahead of superior cars.
On the edge was his only chance for a win.

start your engines!"

You're right - he'd perform well with a good team.  Unfortunately, you're also
right about sponsorship. Today's sponsors want a clean-cut, marketable look and
personality, in addition to talent.  Now, personality-wise, Jimmy is a
wonderful interview. I wouldn't say he's "politically-incorrect"...but no, he's
not the polished orator some sponsors might want.....but he's down-to-earth and
sincere...good ol' boy whose family is very involved in his career (as
evidenced yesterday with his Dad watching on).  But his look - well, he ain't
exactly GQ, but he's representative of a lot of mainstream American men - the
ones that actually watch NASCAR.  Hmmm...I say he needs a sponsor like Beef
Jerky....or a Tool company....yeah....Binford Tools!  RR-RRRR-RRR.  :o)

Sometimes, that's all you can do.  Drive it Like You Stole it.  Go Big or Stay
Home.  Sometimes, that's all there is.
