ALL NASCAR & EARNHARDT FANS PLEASE READ

On Saturday night 2/24/01 a talkshow host in Cleveland-Rick Gilmore, made some
of the most distasteful comments that I have ever heard on the radio.  This
host, who clearly knows NOTHING about the sport, devoted his entire show to
making fun of NASCAR fans in general, and Dale Earnhardt in particular.

To give you a few examples(BE WARNED: THESE COMMENTS ARE GOING TO UPSET YOU):

"It's just one more dead redneck"

"NASCAR fans should get a PEZ dispenser with Earnhardt's head on it- it should
dispense candy shaped like guts"

"NASCAR isn't a sport.  It's just an excuse for dumb redrecks to get together
and drink beer.

These weren't just a few tasteless jokes.  The entire show was devoted to this
kind of garbage.  Constantly throughout this show, Gilmore would play
screeching tires followed by the sound of a crash.

This was the most distasteful, inappropriate, disrespectful tirade that I have
ever heard in my entire life.  This was not an issue of free speach, or just
someone voicing an opinion.  It went beyond low class.  It was mean, hateful
stuff.  I tried more than once to get on the show to comment to Gilmore, but
the screener cut me off.

I have sent an email to the station to voice my disgust for this host and his
comments.  If you are a true NASCAR fan, please email your comments to the
station as well.

Once again, the host was RICK GILMORE of WTAM radio, and the show was held
Saturday night.

To email your comments, please contact the station at

Thanks for reading.

If you call or write to complain, it will only encourage them.  I don't know
this guy you speak of, but I'm sure he's no different from other shock
talkshow hosts.  He wants to create a stir because that means ratings.  The
more complaints the station gets about the guy, the more they figure people
are listening to him.

Rather than write and complain to the station, I suggest you take a tire
iron upside his head when he's leaving work sometime (just kidding).

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!
That is the worst thing you could do right now.  That is exactly why he did it.
To rile you up, create some controversy, and therefore increase his ratings.
Ignore the dumb bastard, and never listen to him again.
Haven't we all learned from the Gearan incident last year?

So what's going on with this, are they still being tacky?  Let's just
write a simple Web page that people who are disappointed with what ia
happening in NASCAR can voice their opinions.  What da ya think. We can
put links to any station or entity that has an email address or a
webpage.

It was a joke moron.  Obviously another non-fan with no sense of humor.

Shock jocks are the trolls of radio... ignore them.   They're only doing it for attention and
subsequently, ratings.  Remember the scene in "Private Parts" where the station manager holds up a
ratings sheet that indicated the average Howard Stern fan listens to the show and hour a day, and
the average Stern hater 3 times longer?

Not that any of these half-assed monkeys rate a pimple on the ***of the King of All Media.

Thanks for saying it's ok to joke about death/killing, now all you NASCAR
people can apologize to everyone who made jokes about DEs death.  I mean these
people were, as you say, "just kidding".

Funny how if people 'joke' about DE it's not ok, but this is.

These people weren't "just kidding", they were purposefully trying to
upset people who were dealing with true grief.  If you can't see the
difference you're not paying attention.

Ya got me a tad confused here MsG.  Does
"The King of All Media" refer to John Boy or
Billy?
