Dale Earnhardt, Jr. in WC by 2000

Folks,

I think 2000 will probably be one of the most interesting years in NASCAR
history.

That's because I think that will be the year that Dale Earnhardt, Jr. will
leap from the Busch series ranks to the Winston Cup, and move his current
team along with it.

And UNLIKE Jeff Gordon, I think fans will be more likely to support
Earnhardt, Jr., mostly because at least Earnhardt, Jr. comes from a family
of famous NASCAR racers (families that have multiple generations racing in
NASCAR are much-loved and respected, IMHO).

Can you imagine Earnhardt, Jr. racing against Jeff Gordon? We might have a
rivalry that we haven't seen since the Richard Petty-Dave Pearson rivalry of
the 1970's.

Considering the announced that DE Jr will runa limited WC schedule net year
and likely a FUll one in 2000, I think your right.

So if DE JR start winning all the time, no one will Boo? Dream on!
Someone will, probably Gordon fans. No one cares about families
either. Just look at John Andretti. BTW, that wouldn't be UNLIKE
Jeff Gordon. Gordon was well supported his first two if not three
years in WC. It is only rescently, the DE/RW fans have begun
vocalizing their fears their hero's will never again see a
trophy.

Well, at least since RW and DE Sr. But you're forgetting one thing,
Steve Park! Everyone seems to have forgotten that Park drove that
#3 of DE's in bush last year very impressively also and Park has
a 2 to 3 year head start on DE Sr. in WC. A three way with Park,
De Jr. and Gordon, although I'm forgetting Jeff Burton and jeremy
Mayfield seem to have come on rescently too, would be much better
don;t you think?

Are you kidding?  Any driver currently in WC is always looked upon a bit
better when they've come from a line of Nascar racing families.  Jarrets,
Pettys, Earnhardts, etc...   and Andretti isn't a *nascar* family.  I
assume that's why it's not a big deal about him.

fast Fords!

They just aren't as vocal. ;-)
That and most JG fans happen to like at least Martin.
OK, OK, so I singled out RW and DE a little too much, but I do like
Martin, and Burton[both], and Labonte [both], and Park, and DW, and
a lot of other drivers, and unlike certain nameless individuals in
this group, I respect every driver, I just don't always respect
their decisions during the race. Happy rappy?
