Guess US will be playing 8-0-0 tactics for the match to be
a draw after 120 mins. Yeah, don't forget the extra time.
What about the two other players? Guess, they will be sleeping
stretched legs on the goal line behind Meola for 120 mins
        to protect the goal.
And you expect Meola to stop 4 penalties from experienced
Brazilians. Since when you got interested in football?

I say that's going to be a MASSACRE OF THE CENTURY:-

        BRAZIL  11     USA   0
Scorers:
        Taffarel (penalty)
        Dunga
        Zinho
        Aldair
        Romario (3)
        Bebeto (2)
        Rai
        Santos

UPSET OF THE CENTURY USA 2 BRAZIL 1 (penalty kicks)

It is often said that penalty kicks are an absurd way of deciding a game
because they are nearly irrelevant to football prowess.  I have always taken
this to imply that penalties were fairly unpredictable, at least in small
numbers (<20, say), as are free throws in basketball.  Is this not so?  Is
there any good evidence of how likely a superior team such as Brazil is to
win a penalty shoot-out?  If you are a Brazilian fan, would you be confident
that your team could dispose of the US in this bizarre format?  Do people
take seriously an individual keeper's percentage of penalties stopped, or
are the numbers just too small to be meaningful?

Cheers,

Penalty kicks are a fast way to break the draw, but very few agree that it is
a good or fair way to do it. The players are exhausted after running and
tackling for 120 minutes, and the responsability is overwhelming. I would
say that only a team that thinks of itself as "inferior" to its opponent
would on purpose play for the penalties. Of, course, there are some weird
circunstances, like having a great goalkeeper or being outnumbered in the field
due to expulsions, but entering the field with the penalties in mind is the
attitude of losers.
