One lone striker unable to get decent service, and unable to perform at
maximum ability because of injury.

The rest of the team looking lost as it struggles with unfamiliar
positions.

Ecuador's gonna run down Hargreaves wing all night long, all night, all
night, all night long....

I concede it is entirely possible England will get crushed tomorrow.
However, it behooves me to point out that England have not lost by
more than a single goal in the knockout phase for more than 40 years.
So, if Ecuador do win, and you believe in long-term historical trends
in football, it won't be easy for them.

Let's just get these very unpleasant English loudmouths out of the
World Cup.

Do the world a favor Ecuador, there is no time like the present.

Regardless, let's rock them off.

Germany will become a better place!

To the header, ouch.  But I can't say its undeserved.  Guess we're going to
be stuck with that for 4 years...

Jason,

My biggest fear is that you'll come right.

You're certainly capable of it and history shows that, after a slow,
laborious, disjointed and tentative start, England can find their form
and most importantly thier confidence.

We've heard all this negative talk about England before, most of it
comes from the English themselves. You're very quick to put yourselves
down when it comes to soccer, it's alway's been "we were crap",
"pitiful stuff" or "***y Hoddle! (coach that is, not the player!)"

Then suddenly, usually without warning, England find the back of the
net and send others packing for home. You start playing to your often
elusive potential and become a fearful opponent for every side on
Earth.

You're not out of this WC by a long shot. You can find the rhythm, the
heart and the effectiveness to reach the Final, and then anything can
happen. It is not a dream.

Then again you can stay playing the way you are and be on a pretty
quick flight back to Heathrow where your brutal media will wait for you
with *** grins on thier collective faces.

It's not only a dream, but a very wet one at that.

If this English team makes the final, it'll be
the biggest fluke in the 22 years I've been
watching world cups.

They've been rubbish before and come right.

Let's hope not this time.

If Ecuador win then it will be "Good riddance to bad rubbish" for me
and many others.

Thank you, but you misinterpreted my comment.  I'm a U.S. fan, and I was
commenting on the "pulling a US" part of the header.

That's an unusual name for an Ecuadorian - "Blair Kavanagh".  Oh well,
good on you and your English is not too bad either.

At the moment, Germany would be better off without the Germans, at
least that great majority of Germans who until two weeks before the
competition were slagging off both team and manager wholsesale and who
are now beyond annoyance and into "somebody lend me a shotgun".

If I hear one more moron chanting that Germany are going to be world
champions at 2 o'clock in the morning I will kill him.  Or her.  Just
as well I won't be here next weekend should they by some miracle win.

Cheers
