Got our tix yesterday and am I pissed! Not the usual whining about where the seats are,
( even though for category 1 they aren't too good IMO ) but about the parking. Don't
know about the other venues, but at O-town it seems as though the paranoids and/or
the let's-milk-this-soccer-shit-for-all-it's-worth crowd have conceived a brilliant
scheme to not only make the matches less convenient and fun, but more expensive as well. Included with the tickets were the stadium map, the odd memorabilia order forms,
AND the news that the stadium parking lot would be off limits to the public. Only those
with special passes will be permitted to park on the grounds. The surrounding streets
will be closed off as well, which eliminates the possibility of paying to park in the
yards of nearby residents, a common practice at well-attended Citrus Bowl events.
The proposed solution: Park-n-ride locations, where you park your car and catch a bus
to the stadium. That is nothing new, many feel that is more convenient than battling
the massive traffic congestion that occurs following the game. One twist however:
normally, when the alternatives of parking at or near the stadium exist, the fee for
the park-n-ride is about $3.00. Now that most will not have these options available, they've upped the fee to $10.00. SO, no tailgating, no parking lot pick-up games and
more money out of your pocket. But at least we can console ourselves with the fact that
all of those soccer terrorist types that the media have been warning us about won't be
able to drive all of their car-bombs right up to the stadium and disrupt the matches.

You are right!  Not only was I robbed with the sitting assignment, but this
park-and-ride is a scam.  I'll be taking 7 people in my van, that means that
they want me to put up $70 additional for parking per game.  No way Jose!!!!!

If you are really piss, I have a suggestion: call the Orlando organizing
office and complain as loud as possible.  Faxes my also help.  I'll get the
phone numbers latter on.

BTW, I got cat I tickets and I am seeting in the 10 yard line very low.
I feel like looking for a lawyer and suing WC94 Inc.  I just wish I had the
money and time to do it.

I have a small request for all those looking to buy/sell/discuss WC tickets.
Just as we have a [T/R] convention for tables and results, could we start
a convention that any post about WC tickets contains [Tix] in the subject?
Then everybody who is not interested (like me) could add this string to their
kill-file.

I'd really appreciate it if we could adhere to a convention like this.
Thanks.

Does anyone know where Section 310 will be in Orlando? It does not show-up
on the map of the stadium.  For what little it is worth, the tickets
are Cat II.

Call or Fax the WC94 Orlando Office and complain about the park-and-ride scam,
if you are that upset.  These are the numbers:

    (407) 246-1994
Fax (407) 246-9494

I already called them up and expresed my anger, for whatever that was worth.

Don't know but i purchased 10 sets for Category I sitting.
The first 8 sets were assigned to section 331 and the last 2 sets to
section 310.
I'm really pissed off, this is the most upper level of the stadium and I
placed my order around Feb/Mar 1993.And I find out from you that section 310
also contains category II !!!
I'm gonna give them a call and find out where this ghost section is.

Yep, I'm pissed too.  I called Orlando Parking Bureau and asked about
alternatives to park-n-ride (for my family of four, we're talking about
another $40 a game!).  I was told that there will be VERY limited parking
available ten or more blocks away at the LOW price of $25 per vehicle.
Jeez! let's-milk-this-soccer-shit-for-all-it's-worth is right!

I might check into the possiblilty of shuttle buses from area hotels, and
using their lots.  I would suspect that hotels will be letting only guests
use their lots on game days when they're providing game transportation.

If anybody has some good alternatives for Orlando parking, I'd like to
hear 'em.

Here's an idea:  talk local owners of vans into bringing vans full of people
to the stadium from the parking lots for $2 a head.  The round trip would then
be $4, vice $10.  I'd much rather do that.  Walk from as close as possible.
I personally plan to walk from wherever I am, rather than pay the exhorbitant
price of $10.

Got hold finally with those so-called soccer people and thay tell me that
section 310 is a new section that's being added to the orlando stadium just
for the world-cup.
When I enquired about its location vis-a-vis the field, total blackout,
can't blame those operators though, all they do is take orders, for
more information and complaints about the seats call 310-277-9494 during
weekdays 9am to 6pm pacific.

Don't waste your time and money.  First of all, you will hold onto the
line for quite a long time (at your expense) after you get through -- which
is a feat in itself.  Then, once you get someone on the phone, they are
only going to be temporary phone folks who are instructed to tell you
that those are the seats you got, and that no changes will be made.  They
have no authority to do anything beyond taking your name (and promptly
"filing" it after you hang up).  They will not give you the names or
numbers of anyone with any authority.  You've been Rothenbuttf***ed.

If you don't like it, call the local media in the area where you have tickets
or write a response letter to Newsweek, or some other magazine that has
been saying how WC life is all peaches & cream.  That's about all you can
do.

P.S. - for those who are reluctant to bring any "discredit" in the media
on soccer, keep in mind that the discredit does not go to the sport, but
to the unscrupulous promoters who seem to place their concern for the
sport and the fans *far* below their greed.  I think those who are
real soccer fans will know the difference between a criticism of the
sport and the criticsm of reprehensible conduct in the business office.

Attention Orlando Tix holders:

I called the Citrus Bowl (407) 849-2500.  Basically, the chap I spoke to
stated that the WC organizers had screwed up the schematic.  Sections
preceded by a '3' should have the following 2 digits match those in
Sections starting with a '1' or '2'.  That is, section 312 on the ticket is
really section 319/320 on the schematic.

I hope that helps you out; I wnet bezerk when I couldnt find the seats.
