Televised replay often shows no clear contact yet players advancing the
ball are seen reacting to proximal defenders by sprawling and grabbing a
knee like like they've just been shot only to bounce right up and
deliver a crisp penalty kick, often for a deciding score, once the
incident has been acknowledged by the referee's whistle.
Instant replay would allow officials to review questionable calls. Why
not use it when a match is at stake and a protest is lodged, that seems
reasonable, and any extra time needed for the review could be added on
at the end.
