- Euro2000: (1) PK loss to Italy , (2) Kluivert misses PK in second half of
semifinal
- World Cup 1998: PK loss to Brazil in semifinal
- Euro1996: PK loss to France in quarterfinals

(2) recent winners have defeated Italy on the way to the title

-Euro 2000: France def Italy (final)
-World Cup 98: France def Italy (quarterfinal)

England did that in 1998 and look what happened

David Batty had NEVER taken a penalty in HIS LIFE

In god's name, why?

It's not like taking a couple spot kicks at the end of practice is all that

That's about as insane as NBA players who don't want to practice free
throws, although they shoot a whopping 63% from the stripe. It happens all
the time though.
