************************************
  Group phase (last round):

   Group 4

 Flamengo (Rio-BRA) 2-0 Coronel Bolognesi (Tacna-PER)
  [Bruno 83' (FK), Obina 88']
Goalkeeper Bruno took a nice free kick to put the hosts
ahead and Obina completed a Marcinho cross to make
it 2-0. Bolognesi are now the only team to have played a
Libertadores and never scored in it.

 Nacional (Montevideo-URU) 3-1 Cienciano (Cuzco-PER)
[Martn Ligera 38', Mathias Cardaccio 53', Diego Vera 90' -
   Guevara 82']
DrColombes has described this match in another thread.

  Final group standings:
   Flamengo 13; Nacional 12; Cienciano 7; Bolognesi 2.

   Group 7

 Sportivo Luque?o (PAR) 4-1 Audax Italiano (Santiago-CHI)
  [Abente 2', 28', Gigena 8', Esquivel 44' - Villanueva 56']
Didn't see any of this, but it seems a major ***job by
Audax, who just needed to win against an eliminated
  team.

S?o Paulo FC (BRA) 1-0 Atltico Nacional (Medelln-COL)
  [Alex Silva 39']
As almost always, the goal came from a cross by Jorge
Wagner. Alex Silva headed it in to put S?o Paulo on top
of the group, while Nacional were saved by Audax's
  incompetence.

  Final group standings:
   S?o Paulo 11; Nacional 8; Luque?o (GD = -2),
   Audax (GD = -3) 7.

Like last year, the semifinals matchups in these brackets are
conditional.
If two teams from the same country reach the semis, they'll have to
play each other.
The stupid rule has no provision for the plausible event of three
teams from the same country reaching the semis.

 Tchau!

I'm glad to see Cienciano go down in flames after they failed
miserably to smite Evil the previous round.

(...)

A lot of intriguing matchups at the round of 16.

Nacional doesn't seem to be at a great form, but I don't expect them
to go out easily. Still, Fluminense topped a strong group. I predict
the Brazilian side to advance.

Another tough one. S?o Paulo is a Libertadores team and should
advance.

I have no clue here. I predict Lans.

Boca. Because Boca wins. Always.

Matchups between teams of the same country are always tricky. I have a
feeling San Lorenzo will prevail here.

Estudiantes to the quarters. But I wouldn't be terribly surprised with
a LDU upset.

flamengo is the best teams in Brazil. By miles. Heck, they might be
the best side in the World right now. Amrica haven't got a prayer
here.

Santos win.

If they have a problem with two teams from the same country reaching
the final, or with 3/4 teams from the same country in the semis, then
they should switch back to the old 2 representatives from each country
format.

When you bloat the tournament, the official excuse is to allow all the
top teams in the continent to participate (or most of them). Well, if
you want all of them to participate, let them play it out. Conmebol
can't have it both ways.
