Just another sign of why some people think the MLS sucks.  I, for one, love
the MLS, but to have a crybaby like Lalas sing the anthem in front of the
people he wants to leave behind?  What's he gonna do, do what Roseanne did
in San Diego six years ago?  Gimme a break!

Sorry DC United, I had hoped to watch a fair MLS Cup '96; you will
down a man from the very start of the match.  LA will be fielding 12
players and their 12th player is very dangerous, more so than Cienfuego
or
Hurtado.  Watch the tape of the final match between LA and the Clash
to see the moves that he'll put on you.

I beg to differ. I don't know Alexi's singing skills, but he *is* a
musician, and I think it's entirely proper for the Anthem to be sung
by a soccer player. This keeps the focus on the game itself better
than having some diva or rock star warble along. JMHO    Nancy

This is a perfect example of someone spouting off about something that he
knows nothing about.  Maybe it because the writer is in Canada and doesn't
know what is happening in New England.

Alexi has never said that he wanted to leave the fans of New England or
the Revolution for that matter.  His sole problem was with coach Frank
Stapleton and  he was not the only player who did not want to play under Big
Frank for another year.  Our Canadian defender, Ian Fraser, asked to be
traded rather than play for FS also.  There isn't a player on the REVs who
would want to leave the support that they received from the fans this year.

I don't know how good Alexi can do on the national anthem but he
certainly will be better than a lot of alleged singers that I've heard in
the past.  Lately the object of singing the national anthem seems to be just
how to make it sound unrecognizable to the public.  (Oh and by the way, I'm
not a big supporter of Alexi Lalas either.  I just give the guy an even=
 break.)

Time for a rest away from the monitor Bob.  You really went overboard on
this one.  <grin>
