Milan's golden age has not passed!

Well, as you may think that Milan is not the Milan in the past. However, Milan
is still Milan. Its success in the past is all witnessed by us. I can tell you
the reason why Milan slump in this year's early part. Well, the creative
player in Milan, Savasvike ( I spelt wrongly), is wounded and the 2 times
former Footballer of the Year, Van Basten is also hurt and stay in bed for
nearly 2 years. I think that Had these 2 guys been able to return to the
pitch, Milan will soar continually and finish climb up to the top of the
Italian Series A league. Now, Savasivike seems return to pitch now. The only
one left is Van Basten, the greatest forward and shooter in the world I
believe. Guys, please wait! Milan will return to their strength very soon.

Yes, Savicevic is back in action but he is not a real striker. Remember, what
Milan is missing right now is a "REAL" striker to produce firepower. And they
must give up their 6-people-defense system. What you can hope is that Melli
Simone. will score in the front line while Boban, Donadoni and Savicevic
create chances for them. They will bounce back as Lentini really wakes up
from his "COMA" (I think he is still sleeping during these days) and
Eranio recovers from his knee injury.(He produced all the chances to beat
Juv. and Sampdoria last year if you recall). Well since a rumor said that
they already bought Belgium striker Oliveria (sp?) from Cagliari and Ginola,
Bergkamp, Romario and Jordi Lardin (from Esponal, Spain) are on their
shopping list for next season, also Baresi is going to Japan next season.
Milan will be much stronger next year. Let's hope they will not go to Seire B
and Baresi+Costacurta will make less mistakes in later matches.

Ideal line-up: Rossi-Panucci Galli Minotti Maldini-Desailly-Eranio
Albertini Donadoni-Savicevic Some_real_striker

PS They will buy Minotti to replace Baresi :)

On the subject of Milan's many unfit players, can someone update
us on Eranio's status? What is his injury and when is he
expected back? In my mind, he's a player that has been sorely
missed both by Milan and the Italian national team.

Doug

Marco Van Basten is by far one of the best forwards in all of soccer.  It
will be great to see him back on the pitch again.  Too bad he could not of
played for Holland in the World Cup.  Van Basten and Bergkamp would have
been an unstoppable combination.

But I think Bergkamp at most is only half as talented as Basten. Sorry, I
know this would bring me a lot of hot water - but I really think so. As a
star, Bergkamp never rised as high/fast as Marco. If Marco could play
without any injury on his ankle, he would never let us down.

Marco Van Basten best player in the world?
Don't you actually have to play to be considered the best?
he's been hurt for what now 3-4 years? He had a good streak, I don't think h
e could compete with the real best like Maradona, Platini, Cruyff, zico..

He was injured during a friendly with Fiorentina right before the EC
final in April.
He had a knee injury which will keep him out of action until the end of
the season (may return in Feb. if condition is good)

Hasn't played since 1993 Champions League final against Olympique.

These players were real "number 10's", leading their teams from the
midfield. Van Basten was/is a 120% striker, scoring goals "where no man
has gone before". He's better comparable to players like Romario.

This is the only thing we needed. Milan wins a game and now
some of the old backers start claiming they are still No. 1.

Face it guys. Milan is OLD, SLOW and done for a good while!!!

Have you seen the way Baresi looked in the game VS Ajax???
Donadoni is an old man, D. Massaro can score a goal on an empty
net, Costacurta cannot defend anymore, Simone too short and
Lentini is nothing but hair and looks.

Milan is struggling in the Italian League and this win is only
going to prolong the agony of the Italian fans. The next round
could be very painful for those who have problems facing reality.

Milan needs new *** soon because time is runnig out!!!!!!!

Yes, Agree. Colin had made a poor comparison.

             AGREE!  AGREE!
Van Basten may not be as creative as Maradona, Platini, Cruyff, zico (the guys
colin mentioned). However, being the greatest forward need not be as creative
as the above guys. Van Basten is the really striker and shooter. Once chances
are created to him by some creative midfielder, like Savicevic. He can firmly
grab the chance and change it into a goal. This is exactly his virtue and
talent and therefore his ability to be 2 times Footballer of the Year. Don't
tell me that being Footballer of the Year is not greatest. If you do think so,
guys in this newsgroup pls ignore this guy called Colin. He is the extreme
minority that we need not pay any attention to at all.
