SYDNEY, Jan 16 (AFP) - English Premier League club Newcastle United are to
hold talks this week about forming a partnership with their Australian
Magpies chairman Freddy Shepherd will speak with officials from national
soccer league outfit Newcastle United on Friday as part of a world tour
designed to boost the international profile of his club.
"We'll be talking about a whole range of opportunities from marketing to
supporter group liaisons to the condition of the current national soccer
league," Jock Graham, the manager of Australia's Newcastle United, said
"I would see Friday as the first of a number of meetings between the clubs."
He said arrangements which could be implemented in the short-term included
joint marketing, exchange of information between supporters' groups and the
transfer of junior players to England.
Shepherd will arrive in Sydney this week following talks on similar links
with Asian clubs.
I don't fight, I talk about football.
