Argentina v. Mexico [R, WC 2006/2nd Round]

First-Half to start in an hour, in Leipzig!

Argentina  0  :   0   Mexico

Goals: n/a

Cautions: n/a

*** MR: Get yer red hot lineups! Apparently, Pekerman is going
with Tevez/Messi up front again, in place of Crespo/Saviola. LaVolpe
counters with Bravo/Fonseca. And the dreadful Salcido makes a start.
Hmm. I may need to rethink this overall, because that sounds
interesting. Thoughts in general?

The lineup listed below is the one that started against Holland.  Pekerman
will not start Tevez and Messi.  The starting strkiers will be Saviola and
Crespo.  Apparently Scaloni, the only Argetinean besides the back-up
goalkeepers who has not yet made an appearance in this WC yet will start in
place of the injured Nicolas Burdisso.  The starting lineup will therefore
supposedly be: Abbondanzieri; Scaloni, Ayala, Heinze, Sorin; Maxi Rodriguez,
Mascherano, Cambiasso; Riquelme; Saviola and Crespo.

I read over the "starting lineup" just now and was confused, thanks for
clearing that up.

Come on Argies, 4-1 as my prediction is good enough, but I'd love to
see 5-0, or 6-0, or 8-0. Perhaps, 9-1.

I was also surprised, because I had read a few minutes ago Livescore
and saw Saviola and Crespo starting.

Gracias, Juan!

And can someone finally tell me, where that Roman-Legion salute came
from, when Mexicans are at attention during their National Anthem?

Just a guess.

Kick off in a minute.

I have no doubt Argentina will still win....

10 min

Crespo!!!!!!!.... Actuallu Borgetti own goal...

1-1

Anyway the point I was going to make was that Mexico will play
differently against Arg. You have to throw the 1st round form out the
window in this match up

1-1 Argentina respond! Borgetti, or Crespo, in the 10'!

Overheard real-time on #wcrss:

VB> but I think Argies will get a goal soon
<Simon99> And the kick is...
<VB> bad riquelme
<Simon99> Poor, hit the wall
<Renatinho> ck
<VB> galvao bueno wonders if we will see a "massacre" by Argentina,
with Mexico having to defend desperately
<VB> GOAL!

Yes. But you know, what's the dilly-o with the less favoured sides,
almost digging their graves early in matches?

I say, that's why defenders have to defend and attackers have to
attack.

How many times I have seen forwards making fools of themselves trying
to defend.
