Gerrard hasn't got enough of a repotaire to be a second striker in any
guise.

Keep him away from the ball near the box and he won't score.

SGE won't play him there from the start but he might move him there if
he sees an oportunity with the other defence and we need a goal.

Sorry chaps, but this ias knee-jerk analysis and his postioning there
will be easily contered by the better teams,

No, he isn't although he ay be slower nowadays.

That's his one weakness.

No.

Yes.

Yep.

It is is nowadays. Anyway, certain managers like SGE and Wenger for
example just won't pick players withiout pace. I agree that pace in
itself isn't a reason to not pick a player but you have to have rather
more attributes than Barton to get into a NT. Beckham makes up for his
lack of pace withoutstanding passing; Riquelme with outstanding
vision; Terry with outstanding physicality....Barton has stamina but
so does Lampard so he isn't needed.

A bit unfar but he isn't good enough to get into the NT.

SGE is gone in 6 weeks. Barton can tackle, shoot and pass. No one is
suggesting he takes the place of Gerrard or Lampard but he is excellent
cover, far better than that waste of space Hargreaves.

But the modern game marches on. Do you think McClaren will pick
Barton? Think again.

Course he can but not exceptionally.

Man...you have exceptionally poor understanding of what makes a squad.
Hargraves is anonymous and does what he is told; Barton will start an
argument with his reflection. You really don't need that.

He picked Mendieta for Boro when he was fit and he's slow as hell so
Barton has every chance.

Barton hasn't got himself into any trouble since the start of the
season.
