Period.

*** a fancy flick. *** a stepover dribble. *** a stepover. ***

Nobody is better.

Period.

He is the epitome of the classic British/Irish footballer, you have to
admire the way he can grab a team by the neck and just drag them
forward with sheer willful determination.

Still, for sheer joyous pleasure, I'll take Ronaldinho any day.

Actually it's an unfair comparison. Like saying Secretariat was a
better horse than Red Rum or vice versa.

Sure, sure. We'll see in the WC when SGE forces England to play with a
midfield with no DM just so he can squeeze Gerrard, Lampard and Beckham
all into the line-up at the expense of a DM.

If I was England's manager (which thanfully I'm not) Joey Barton would
always be on my team, there's not a better allround DM in England than
him.

Here is what you do.

You start Crouch as the lone striker (assuming Owen is out).

Play Gerrard (not Joe Cole)  behind him, in a free role. You let him do
what he wants.

Play Carrick as a DM. I'd have liked to see a destroyer like Barton in
there, but he wasn't picked.

That's 4-4-1-1

Yes, many think Crouch is "the worst striker ever" or something, bu
tthe goals will come if you're playing Joe Cole, Lampard and Gerrard.

                 Crouch

                 Gerrard

Cole    Carrick    Lampard   Beckham

If Rooney doesn't make it I like the idea of playing Gerrard behind a
front striker, as long as it isn't Crouch who has no business in the
squad never mind the team.

What's this obsession with players being slow? Campbell is slow, Terry
is slow, Lampard is slow, Beckham is slow, Riquelme is slow and Zidane
is slowest of them all. In central midfield it's not an issue.

If someone refered to Rolandinho as South American would you have a
problem with that?

English people are a subset of the Irish?

I wouldn't, but the Brazilians might. Like calling a Canadian a North
American:-)
