*****************************************************************
Group Phase (two qualify from each group):

  Group 1
 Boca Juniors (Buenos Aires-ARG) 1-0 Barcelona (Guayaquil-ECU)
  [Nicols Blandi 9']
A cross was headed back to the center by Burdisso and Blandi
slid into it before a defender, Banguera tapped it out
apparently just after it crossed the line, very hard to call
and the goal line technology would be very useful in this play.
Standings: Boca 9 [played 5]; Nacional (URU) 7 [4]; Toluca
  (MEX) 5 [4]; Barcelona 3 [5].

  Group 5
San Jos (Oruro-BOL) 1-1 Xolos Tijuana (MEX)
  [JM Gmez 81' - Fidel Martnez 66']
Martnez stole the ball from a defender, lobbed over the
'keeper and headed the ball in. Gmez equalized after a nice
one-two with someone - I think it was Sejas. Tijuana are
through to the otofinals and San Jos are out.
 Millonarios (Bogot-COL) 0-1 Corinthians (S?o Paulo-BRA)
  [Danilo 57']
Jorge Henrique rolled to Danilo and he sent a low shot into
the near corner. Corinthians are through and take the lead,
  Millonarios are out.
Standings after 5 rounds: Corinthians, Tijuana 10; San Jos
  5; Millonarios 3.

  Group 8
Caracas FC (VEN) 0-4 Huachipato (Talcahuano-CHL)
  [Braian Rodrguez 8', 36', 63', Federico Falcone 87']
Gonzlez put Rodrguez through and he fired past Baroja to
open the score. Snchez missed a header on a tame long ball
by Crovetto and Rodrguez found himself alone to smash over
the 'keeper. A free kick by Crovetto hit a defender, Baroja
saved the rebound shot by Arru, but Rodrguez threw himself
at the new rebound to head in his third. A defender failed
to protect the ball as Baroja ran out to clear after a
header from outside the box and Falcone stuck a foot to touch
  over the helpless goalkeeper.
Standings: Huachipato, Fluminense (BRA) 7; Grmio (BRA),
  Caracas 6.

  Group 3
Atltico Mineiro (B Horizonte-BRA) 5-2 Arsenal Sarand (ARG)
  [Diego Tardelli 11', Ronaldinho 15' (PK), 59', Luan 47',
   Alecsandro 90+3' - Diego Braghieri 40', Daro Benedetto 85'
   (FK)]
J? headed on a long ball and Tardelli ran free to open the
score. A very similar play was sending Luan clear, but he was
pushed, apparently outside the box, the referee calling it a
penalty converted by Ronaldinho, though. A long ball into the
box was headed back to the center and Braghieri beat a defender
in the air to head under Victor through a deflection. A low
cross by J? ran across the goal and Luan tapped in from a tight
angle. Ronaldinho was given way too much time and space inside
the box and sent a beautiful shot into the near top corner. It
was so nice you can't blame the goalkeeper. Benedetto sent a
swerving rocket of a free kick into the far top corner off the
post late in the game but there was still time for another
beautiful goal, a long range shot by substitute Alecsandro.
   Standings: Atltico 15 [played 5]; S?o Paulo (BRA) 4 [4],
  Arsenal 4 [5]; The Strongest (BOL) 3 [4].

   Tonight

  Group 1
Nacional (Montevideo-URU) - Dep. Toluca (MEX)
  [10:15 PM GMT]
Nacional will be through with a win, Toluca will be out if
  they lose.

  Group 3
The Strongest (La Paz-BOL) - S?o Paulo FC (BRA)
  [Apr 5 12:30 AM GMT]
SP will be all but through if they win, their GD gap to
  Arsenal would be too big.

  Group 7
 Newell's Old Boys (Rosario-ARG) - CD Lara (Barquisimeto-VEN)
  [10:15 PM GMT]
 Universidad de Chile (Santiago-CHL) - Olimpia (Asuncin-PAR)
  [Apr 5 12:30 AM GMT]
Olimpia will be through with a win, and La U will be through
if they win and the other game ends in a draw.

 Tchau!
