He is gone, this is a local paper but states he has signed for Barca
for 4 years and will arrive Monday.

After years of rubbish in the papers, particularly spanish papers I've
learned to be a skeptic.

Rather than buy into "if we repeat something often enough it might
become true", I'll wait for Monday. If he hoists a Barca strip then
I'll bid him adieu and thanks for all the good memories.

Despite all the piss-taking and hand-wringing, I think Arsenal are
still a great team with a great future. The results depended less on
Henry the past season than in prior campaigns. He will be missed, but
he would have gone eventually regardless. I worried about his
frequent injuries.

WIthout Henry there isn't really anything that much better about
Arsenal's team than Spurs. Arsenal only just scraped the 4th place in
the last 2 seasons so next season it would seem almost certain that
Spurs will finally break the big four's monopoly on the UCL places.

Henry barely played last season but Arsenal comfortably finished in
the top 4. In the meanwhile, Spurs ONLY JUST scraped for 5th. Without
Henry, it could be closer (not by lack of Henry's contribution,perse,
rather the expected meltdown within Arsenal's camp, with Fabregas
leading the queue looking to move elsewhere), but don't count your
chicken just yet.

If Wenger too is leaving for greener pasture though, Arsenal are
heading for mid table, at least for a season.

Arsenal have clearly been in decline for 2 seasons where as Spurs have
been on the up during the same period. Henry leaving is yet another
reason to believe that Arsenal will struggle to finish in the top 4.
And don't forget that they can't afford to sign anyone either. Selling
Henry was a way to pay off some of the debt and take his wages off the
books. Arsenal will go into next season with only RVP and Adebayor as
strikers, wheras Spurs will have Berbatov, Defoe, Keane and probably
Bent. Clearly far more potent than just RVP and Adebayor, and the
latter is woefully poor at times.

Is that last season where Henry barely played in the league and was well
below par when he did? I'm just saying we managed 4th pretty much without
him last season due to injury and that if he goes then Arsenal will
obviously sign someone who may or may not be a "replacement" for Henry but
who will surely score goals.

It seems to me that anyone with pretty good intelligence would know that
already.

He's a great player and Arsenal will miss him if he goes, no kidding there,
but you know that Arsenal did actually manage to do things like win games,
lose games, finish above spurs, finish below spurs, finish above and/or
below several other teams, field eleven players (plus subs) for their
matches before Henry, right?

How can Arsenal sign anyone when they don't have any money? One of the
main reasons Henry has been sold is to pay off some of the debt
Arsenal have and take his astronomical wages off the book. Arsenal
don't sign new players unless they're very young. Past history shows
us that Arsenal are NOT a buying club. Just a feeder club for Barca
and Madrid, etc.
