IDLE THOUGHTS
=============
9/27 Houston rolls to keep pace with Monterrey with a come-from-behind
12-6 victory over Indianapolis. Houston scored 8 4th quarter goals.
La Raza's magic number to clinch the division remains at 1.
Washington complicates things with a 3-2 overtime shootout win over
Sacramento. It snapped the Warthogs' 4-game losing streak.
Washington wins the season series with the Knights
and pulls within one of 5th place Anaheim. The Splash lost in
overtime to the Sockers, 8-7. San Diego has won 4 in a row. With
both the Knights and Splash losing, Dallas clinches the 4th seed
and home-field advantage in the first round of playoffs.
9/28 The Detroit Neon narrowed the gap between 5th and 8th to just one
game with a 7-3 victory in Portland. The Pride (10-18) finished the
season on a 4-game losing streak (they ended the 1995 season on a
8-game losing streak). Sacramento (14-14), who went to the finals
last year, barely made it to .500 with a 6-5 victory in San Diego
(17-11). San Diego's 4-game win streak was snapped, but they
finished with 17 or more wins for all 4 CISL seasons.
9/29 Indianapolis (10-18), in their last game known as the Indianapolis
Twisters, came up with a huge upset, beating the Monterrey La Raza
(18-10), 8-7, and preventing La Raza from celebrating the division
title just yet. Luckily, Dallas (16-12) pulled out a thrilling
8-7 victory in overtime over Houston (18-10), who could have clinched
the East title with a win. Houston's 4-game win streak was snapped.
Dallas won their 13th straight game at Reunion Arena.
So Monterrey gets the #1 seed and the division title and Houston
winds up with the #3 seed. Anaheim (15-13) scored five straight
goals to upend Washington (13-15), 8-3, and to take the #5 seed.
Seattle (10-18) became the last team to pick up 10 wins, the first
time every CISL team won at least 10 games in the same season, with
its 11-5 crushing victory over Detroit (13-15). Detroit missed a
chance to finish the #6 seed; instead it will get the #8 seed and
travel to Monterrey to open their first playoff season. Sacramento
is the #6 seed and Washington #7.

teams will advance to the CISL playoffs. The two division winners

will be ranked 3-8 based on win-loss records. The #1D will face #8,
#2D vs. #7, #3 vs. #6, and #4 vs. #5. Each series will be a best-of-three

one and three over a non-division winner team (#3 through #8) with a better
record).
