*****************************************************************
Group Phase (two qualify from each group):

  Group 1
Nacional (Montevideo-URU) 4-0 Dep. Toluca (MEX)
[Gonzalo Bueno 11', 89', Israel Damonte 35', Ivn Alonso 74'
   (PK)]
A horrible backpass to the 'keeper was intercepted by Bueno to
put the hosts ahead. Another backpass was at the origin of the
second goal, but this time the 'keeper was the culprit, by
mindlessly collecting it with his hands. The indirect free
kick was crossed low and rebounded for another low cross that
Damonte tapped in from very close range. A foul very close to
the box was incorrectly called as a penalty by the assistant
referee, and Alonso converted it. Bueno added a late fourth
from a low cross. Nacional and Boca Juniors are through.
   Standings after 5 rounds: Nacional 10; Boca Juniors (ARG) 9;
  Toluca 5; Barcelona (ECU) 3.

  Group 3
The Strongest (La Paz-BOL) 2-1 S?o Paulo FC (BRA)
[Nelvin Soliz 15', Ernesto Cristaldo 66' - Rogrio Ceni 44'
   (PK)]
Soliz beat Denilson in a weird way and found himself free to
try his luck from distance in the altitude - generally a good
idea -, Ceni couldn't reach the ball, which flew into the top
corner. S?o Paulo escape a couple of scares before putting
themselves together and eventually winning a penalty converted
by their 40-year old 'keeper. SP missed a couple of good
chances, the most notable through Ganso, before Cristaldo
tried a shot from very, very far away and Ceni could only get
a touch. In the end, Escobar missed a great chance to make it
3-1. The Strongest will visit Arsenal in the final round,
while SP host Atltico. The Bolivians will be through with a
win; if they draw, they'll hope SP don't win - in this case GD
and even goals scored will be a factor. Arsenal must win and
hope SP don't (the GD gap is still big, currently -6 to -2).
SP need to beat the so far unbeaten Galo and hope The
Strongest don't win (and don't get thrashed too hard as well).
   Standings after 5 rounds: Atltico Mineiro (BRA) 15;
Strongest 6; S?o Paulo, Arsenal Sarand (ARG) 4.

  Group 7
 Newell's Old Boys (Rosario-ARG) 3-1 CD Lara (Barquisimeto-VEN)
  [Pablo Prez 4', Ignacio Scocco 43', 89' - Edgar Prez 79']
Prez completed a low cross with a nice shot over Liebeskind.
Scocco received a through pass and showed great balance to
stay up after being bumped by a defender before lobbing past
the 'keeper. Prez fired in a low cross to keep some suspense,
but Scocco made a late mazing run past three defenders before
slotting the ball in the far corner.
 Universidad de Chile (Santiago-CHL) 0-1 Olimpia (Asuncin-PAR)
  [Richard Ortz 50']
Ortz was put through and slid past Herrera to put Olimpia
through to the otofinals. NOB's GD is +4, while La U's is -3.
Only a miracle can put the Chileans through.
   Standings after 5 rounds: Olimpia 10; Newell's 9; U de Chile
  6; Lara 4.

 Tchau!
