HARRY STILL SWEET ON DAVOR
Harry Redknapp has moved swiftly to deny reports that Davor Suker is
about to
complete his proposed switch to Upton Park, while admitting that he is
still very
keen to sign the Croatian international.
It had been claimed that the former Real Madrid ace, who is being
allowed to leave
Highbury on a free transfer, was set to be revealed by West Ham on
Friday,
following weeks of speculation linking him with a move to the East End
of London.
"We have been interested in Suker for a while, but we're just waiting to
see. We are
looking to try and do a deal, if possible, but nothing is done
definitely," Redknapp
told the West Ham website.
"Davor is a terrific goalscorer, and he has proved he can score goals at
the very
highest level because he is world class. We make a lot of chances and he
is capable of scoring around 20
goals a year if he played all season, and I think he would give us an
awful lot."
The 32-year-old moved to Arsenal for 3.5 million last summer, and has
scored 11 goals in 39 appearances for
the Gunners, including one in the 2-1 defeat at Upton Park last October.
