The German Midfield???

For those who have seen the German team play recently, what are your opinions
about the German midfield.  I personally like Moeller, but also enjoy watching
him team up with Haessler.  Yet recently Vogts has been playing Basler a lot
and Sammer seems to be doing well also.  What are people's opinions about
the strongest lineup possible for the German midfield?

Curious,
Brad

I guess there are almost as many opinions about the best line-up as there
are soccer-interested Germans...
If *I* had to decide, first of all I'd play Kuntz instead of Riedle.
I don't like Basler, but he's been playing pretty well. Still I'd rather
have Haessler, Moeller, Sammer and Wagner. Gaudino shouldn't be benched
for the whole tournament, either. I think he might be a good replacement
player.

BTW: it's been fascinating to see how much evaluation of the players by
the media is based on personal preference. After the Ireland match, which
didn't disturb me unduly btw., several reporters blamed Wagner for not
playing more conspicuous...
That's ridiculous since he didn't get the ball at all during the first half!

Greetings, Sebastian

[Sebastian writes about media criticism of Wagner and how they wanted
Brehme instead]

Yes, this was bad. Wagner played a strong 2nd half, when he got 'ball exposre.'
As an FCK fan, I like Wagner and Brehme, and I think Wagner's future is very
good. Brehme's career is ending. During last season, I though Wagner
outplayed Brehme on many occasions, especially with some of Brehme's bad
passes. Still, I was happy with Brehme's leadership and experience, and
he is still a great defensive player. I guess they both deserve to be on the
national team.

Well, I like Basler, but that's for another post.
