I wish they would do when they play for Bayern :-))))

1998 semifinal: Bulgaria already back to 2-1, Italy dead in the water,
*** on after about the 60th minute (sound familiar)...  handball in
the Italian penalty area.  Not seen, not called.  Bulgaria out.

(cue obligatory comments about referee mistakes balancing out over time)

Yes, that's the problem... the favourite plays like ***and supplies a
blunder, and that's it: it is "the referees who ripped us off because
we didn't win by showing up."

I still can't believe Vieri choked that chance at 90'

Funny since before the match an Italian player disparagingly called
Korean soccer as "horse soccer".

Hungary vs Czechoslovakia: Lajos Tichy's shot hit the underside of the

Russian referee Latisev waved the play on. Czechs moved on, Hungary went
home.

Hungary vs Sweden: Lajos Tichy's shot hit the underside of the crossbar and

Latisev waved the play on. Sweden scored from the counter (incidentally,
Hamrin pushed the defender with two hands just prior to the goal, ref didn't
see that either) and moved on. Hungary lost to Wales in a replay and went
home.

>> 1954:

Hungary vs West Germany WC Final: With 3 minutes to go in the match, Puskas
scored. English referee Ling first signaled the goal, then reversed his
decision and ruled the play offside. (Film footage showed it was not.) West
Germany won WC54, Hungary finished 2nd.

NOTE: The above is not a misprint. Both in 1958 and 1958 Tichy scored, which
would have been, decisive goals, and the SAME referee disallowed both.

Mexico denied a penalty and a man up against the USA -- match
degenerates to farce that the referee should've abandoned after the
attempted *** on Cobi Jones...

And that's just in the top 8.  We could probably go back to the group
phases and find lots of mysterious calls which are only made in the
bush leagues.

I think there was also an obvious penalty on Philipe Albert? Wasn't that
ust before the Geramns scored their third goal?

1990 - Aregntina against Germany: A balatant dive by Rudi V?ller. Argentina loses the
final totally undeservedly

1994 - Argentina against Romania: An obvious penalty on Abel Balbo is
reduced to a free kick, by the Italian Referee. Argentina loses 2-3.

1998 - Argentina against the Netehrlands: Penalty on Ortega, in the last
minute. Ignored by the referee, Bergkamp scores in the counter attack.

2002 - Arentina aganist England: Owen dive. Ref Collina. Shame.
