I think it came from a good source via Brian Glanville, a very respected
writer of about 50 years world cup experience

Here's a huge one, and it comes from Pele: many South Americans believe
FIFA prez Sir Stanley Rouse instructed the refs -- whom he had selected
-- to go easy on the "virile" style of Europeans when they play the SAs.
Pele insists he was hacked to death and the refs did nothing, and it was
the same for all SA teams there.

To be fair, The King spends slightly more time ripping the Brazilian Fed
for mismanaging the team than the refs...

Rous instructed referees to apply the laws of the game - laws which,
for example, allow shoulder charges - including of the goalkeeper -
but which were disregarded everywhere in the world except in the UK.
They are now disregarded in the UK too.

I did, great work really, I even like it. So what am I expected to do
in consideration of such terribly informed comments like "It was

Hey, since there is obviously no burden of proof I can produce similar
