This is just for fun, and sort of to point out that in every cup theres
always some
story somewhere of a team being robbed - although my memory is failing me at
the moment.

2002: no doubt Italy (numerous offsides?), how about Belgium (good goal)

1998:

1994:

1990:

1986: England - hand of God by Maradona

1982: Algeria - Germany/Austria in biggest filth ever. (Germany v France:
Schumacher almost kills Battiston - no foul, no card)

1978: Brazil - Argentina needed to beat Peru 4-0 to go through, and won 6-0
amidst accusation of large donations from Argentinian government to
Peruvians

1974:

1970:

1966: (before adding Germany, please refer to handball during the equaliser
for 2-2):

1962:

1958:

1954:

1950:

1938:

1934:

1930:

please fill in with details

Where did you get that from?

I heard that, but wasnt sure if it was for real
I think it came from a good source via Brian Glanville, a very respected
writer of about 50 years world cup experience

hey, it doesnt matter if its real, its just whether something was used as an
excuse for not winning!

GER/FRA, Araagh, stop it, it's been 20 years and just when I was feeling

Here's a huge one, and it comes from Pele: many South Americans believe
FIFA prez Sir Stanley Rouse instructed the refs -- whom he had selected
-- to go easy on the "virile" style of Europeans when they play the SAs.
Pele insists he was hacked to death and the refs did nothing, and it was
the same for all SA teams there.

To be fair, The King spends slightly more time ripping the Brazilian Fed
for mismanaging the team than the refs...

Since the ref admitted his error, this is a 100% certain one...

1994: Red card for the German keeper (hands outside the penalty area)
wasn't given... :(

1990: Small error: the free kick that led to the 119' minute goal in
Bel-Eng (0-1) wasn't a free kick...

Rous instructed referees to apply the laws of the game - laws which,
for example, allow shoulder charges - including of the goalkeeper -
but which were disregarded everywhere in the world except in the UK.
They are now disregarded in the UK too.

Actually, the worst of it happened in their 2-0 victory over Bulgaria.

I did, great work really, I even like it. So what am I expected to do
in consideration of such terribly informed comments like "It was
widely whispered", ""some substance", "it has never been claryfied."
Hey, since there is obviously no burden of proof I can produce similar
stuff in a nutshell.

May I remind you that German players always run like horses?:-)

Cheers,

Ingo

In his biography he names names: Zhechev (Bulgaria) in Game 1 and then
Portugal's Morais in their third match. He missed the second game, BRA
coaching strategy gone awry.
