> Galatasaray wins 3-2. Goals: ronaldo(2), eboue, sneijder, drogba real madrid forced an attack around 7th minute until they got what they want and they got a goal by ronaldo. then they slowly disapperared in the game as galatasaray dominated real madrid, especially in the second half. saying that, ronaldo wasted a chance impossible to miss 3 ft from goal line when madrid were 0-1; he could've wrapped the game there but wasted it and galatasaray kept pushing. they were fun to watch, and they could've gone through, but they eventually lost to madrid's experience, individual superior skills (ronaldo and modric)...
...and not to mention some atrocious refereeing decisions in the first leg.
I've just received an SMS on the game which described it as "the best second half of football I've seen this season" and I wouldn't seek to argue with that. However, not wishing to come across as the "Ghost at the Party" on this otherwise great night for the football family (I'm thinking of the drama from the Dortmund - Malaga game as much as what took place in Istanbul) but the reality is that were it not for three key refereeing errors in the first leg* then the team in the semi finals would be wearing yellow and red and I'm not talking Partick Thistle!
Getting back to positives, Galatasaray did Turkish football proud in the second half. Who knows if things would have been different in Sneijder hadn't missed a sitter when the scores were 1-1? I'm pleased that we won playing attractive football. I don't agree with anyone who says RM didn't take the game seriously, the were fighting for every ball as far as I could see, pressed us in the middle of the park, but to blow our own trumpet for a second, when GS play well *they play well*, at least the attacking unit does (conversely, when the play bad....*they play bad*!).
You have to hand it RM, they have quality in abundance and with a tactician like Mourinho at the helm they don't seen prone to the complaceny they've shown in previous seasons. That said, as tonight proved, they are not invincible. Everyone talks of the prospect of a great RM - Barca final, but like Murat I'd actually be very interested in seeing how RM would cope with Bayern Munich, or Dortmund, for that matter.
