Basically, the same game, but on ice. So much more exciting, however.
Smaller playing surface, fewer players, more contact.

'Nuff said.

The red of the *** looks better on white ice than green grass too.

More speed, more passing, more play development, more strategy, more skill,

more betterer.

Actually, I prefer international hockey to the NHL.. the larger rink
allows for actual skating more than 5 feet before a player is checked or
otherwise tied up.

Yes, I prefer larger rinks too. Unfortunately, they will play on NHL
size rinks during 2010 olympics.

No, they will renovate the facility to put a larger sheet in.

Recent date on that link, but it's typical of VANOC.

The IOC / IIHF has approved playing hockey games
at GM Place on NHL-sized ice. I haven't seen any
news article that says they've changed that decision.
And the reason given for allowing hockey on NHL-sized
ice was to accomodate more PAYING customers. It was
the IOC again dancing to the sound of money.
The other venue, now beginning construction, is an
international-sized ice surface. It is being built
at UBC, and UBC was, apparently, quite adamant that
it remain so.
So we are now in the ridiculous situation where
some games will be played on international-sized ice
and some on NHL-sized ice.

And if you're looking for facts on the 2010 Olympics,
don't quote from any VANOC-sponsored site.
If the folks of this province weren't so damn complacent,
the 2010 would be voted off the island faster than the
citizens of Denver/Colorado did in the mid-seventies.

Regards.        RAF
