Does the 'best' player or the 'right' player start?

I'm just wondering, which system is better.  Starting your best players ie.
Baggio/Del Piero, Owen/Shearer or the players that fit best in the a given
system even if they may be inferior in skills/stamina etc to another player.
For example starting Shearer/Sheringham even though Owen clearly is > than
Teddy.

I just wanted to know which one you'd do if you were a coach and why.

It depends on the coach entirely. It's like "do you play to win or do you
play not to lose".

I'd sit Owen on the bench.  He is good coming off the bench because he
brings energy.  As you saw today, he couldn't last longer than one half.  He
was more effective when he came in against Romania, because he has great
pace and can bring an offensive spark.  England should've slowed the pace of
the match for the first 60 or so minutes, then brought in Owen to give them
the extra edge.  What ended up happening was England was forced to take the
defensive because their players, most notably Owen, totally ran out of gas.
Because the Argentines paced themselves better, they outlasted England.
