It is getting ***y annoying to hear the ITV commentators (UK tv ITV) talking about the
new player that Arsenal have signed for the next season.  The only reason they are
"plugging" this ordinary transfer is because they have go the TV coverage for the
European Cup-Winner's Cup next season again!  I bet the the money grabbing, shit-
coverage merchants in ITV do back to their monotonous "slagging" of Arsenal straight
after the ECW Cup.  Two-faced bastards.

(Yes,  I am bitter about it and Dennis Law can *** off as well!)

I agree (not quite as strongly though).  ITVs coverage is really getting
on my wick.  The commentators seem to talk ALL the way through the match
about nothing in particular dont they know that we can see that Brazil
have the ball in their own half?!?!?!?!?!?  Dennis Law is so 'nice'
about EVERYTHING.  Ray Wilkins seems to be the only one knowlegable
there, perhaps its cos hes still in the game, although he does go
all gooey over the Italians but we'll let him off only for the fact
that any second i expect him to say "Yes Ralph, the little orange fellow
came in from the right..."

Now onto BBC.
Has Jimmy Hill ever played footy this century? Why do they keep beating
a dead horse?

Do you think they could try John Fashanu on a game which doesn't involve
Nigeria? (they might have to now).  He is so biased toward them but i
think he should be given a chance elsewhere.

Its good that theyve decided to have players that actually know what
goes on in modern football and not always dragging out players of
yesteryear.

Best moment so far was when John Motson was talking to Chris Waddle
about penalty shootouts and Waddle said he didnt want to talk about
them.  Okay, so you had to be there.

I'm afraid that isn't close to the most annoying statement. The worst I've heard
all WC (and that's saying something, alongside "you can visibly see them wilting"
and the like) was before the Saudi-Sweden match.

Matt Lorenzo actually said: "Football is the biggest thing to hit Saudi Arabia since
the Prophet Mohammed". What has this man been taking? It's up there with Mottie's
"Socrates! That sums up the philosophy of Brazilian football!" from '82.

It's volume down, radio on for most matches now.

Andy.

Nah! The best moment was when they were talking about Pele predicting
that Colombia would win the WC, and Kevin Keegan (expert summariser,
token Spaniard and darling of Newcastle) said: "Just shows what former
players know about football".

Andy,  I could not agree more.  Personally I find the commentary on Radio 5
far less tediuos and annoying than TV commentary.  Long Live the RADIO!

Yes I agree with you. They really get on my nerves too. Everytime the guy gets
the ball it's "the man for Arsenal next season" or "he will playing with
Arsenal next season" or "what an impact this man will make to Arsenal". These
guys are crazy. It will be a buzz if Arsenal are dumped in the first round in
the ECW Cup next season. Then ITV will not even mention Arsenal for a long time.

They are not bright enough to come up with this strategy.  I think they
think that we UK viewers will only be interested if the commentators can
put a UK angle on everything.

Sadly, the only angle that the ITV and BBC commentators seem to want to
put on matches is the tenuous ENGLISH link angle.  For example (and I
kid you not!), "And England are represented in this match by the
linesman", "the grass in this stadium (can't remember which one, sorry!)
is the brainchild of an Englishman", "he'd certainly do well in the FA
Carling Premiership", etc..  The depths that these people will go to in
order to mention something English because England didn't make it to the
finals is depressing and embarassing.

Sad, very sad.  (The commentators' comments, not the fact that England
didn't make it!! ;^)

Or when Ray Wilkins mentioned that he had seen a match earlier in
the evening on BBC and Matthew whatsisface's inane presenter smile
had an uncomfortable edge to it
