A lot of people dont seem to like CONCACAF, possibly due to how much
it Rocks?  But I am going to go out on a limb and say the next non
Euro/S America WC winner will come from CONCACAF, Probably Mexico if
they host the thing in Qatar?

These qualifiers could very much make or break the USA and their
chances of qualifying.

I admit I dont know what kind of injury problems the other teams have,
but the U.S have a few.  Howard is out, then they seem to missing a
bunch of defenders through either injury, or Klinsmann is not picking
them anymore?  So in the back the US look weak?

None of the so called favourites looked good in the first game. US
lost in Honduras, Mexico got a tie at home with Jamaica and Costa Rica
and Panama tied, though that game was in panama, so not a bad result
( I consider Costa Rica the other favourite besides Mex and USA).

looking at the list of US players, I dont recognize too many of the

I wont be overly critical of Donavan deciding he doesn't want to play,
though I think that attitude is probably why he never made a name for
himself outside of the MLS.  I wont go on about not having any chance
when you have Jermaine Jones in your midfield, because he seems to do
alright with the USNT. Midfield and forwards dont look bad, so it will
be interesting.

I dont think they will fire the new coach, they just brought in, if
results go badly, but I could see the US coming away with 1 point from
these games?  I really do want to see them qualify and not just
because it means TV and media coverage for the WC will be better, I
would also like to see the sport get bigger in North America.

A home win and Mexico loss would probably be par for the course,
anything more is bonus.

Why? Br?ndby have a stronger defense when he isn't playing.

2-2 final, Honduras scored in the 77th and 80th minutes after Chicarito had scored a pair for Mexico. Can't decide if that's a good result for the US or not, but it's always fun to see Mexico struggle. Maybe they will try to hire Klinsmann away from us?

The header is misleading, it should be CONCACAF HEX.  Using the term
HEX may scare off some people.  But the CONCACAF HEX is the rockingest
qualifying group in the world of WC qualifiers, it really is!  Just
look at these scores from yesterday;

FT      Honduras        2-2     Mexico  Third Round     San Pedro Sula (37,000)
FT      Jamaica         1-1     Panama  Third Round     National Stadium Kingston
(30,000)
FT      United States   1-0     Costa Rica      Third Round    ***'s Sporting Goods
Park (19,374)

or the scores from last month

FT      Honduras        2-1     United States   Third Round     San Pedro Sula (25,000)
FT      Panama  2-2     Costa Rica      Third Round     Estadio Rommel Fernandez
(35,000)
FT      Mexico  0-0     Jamaica         Third Round     Estadio Azteca (45,000

Those Euro Snobs with their heated pitches and  Asian interlopers,
think UEFA is so great.  But here in the great Continent of CONCACAF
we dont have 0-6 games every month and when it snows our pitches stay
full of snow!  Just the way God planned it, we dont fool with mother
nature!  You have a metre of snow on the ground, we are going to put
on our boots and go out and play!  Not run away and cancel the game
like some feeble senior citizen afraid of going outside and breaking a
hip cus it is snowing,  noway we rock!

Even if you come from some tropical central American country, you dont
cancel a game becasue of snow!  What's a bit of snow falling on some
players compared to a bag of urine being showered on you!!?!?  Its
nothing, its just rain in a different form.  So are the EURO Snobs
afraid of putting ice in their drinks too because it is something
dangerous and foreign to them?

That is how we swing here in CONCACAF, we adapt and we Rock!
One day it is minus 10C and a blizzard, a couple of days later you are
playing in 35C and thick smog and we love it!  Those dumb Euros get
all confused and cancel games if a few flakes of snow fall or some
country decides to get back some ill gotten booty from a crooked
bank|!  Ohh cancel all the games, close everything down, ohhh we are
so afraid...

Look at the scorelines at CONCACAF, nobody is going into somebodies
backyard and scoring 8 goals, it is practically impossible to win away
from home and you never have more then a one goal advantage, this is
due to the severity of the rockingness of CONCACAF.

Even in CONMEBOL ( Where ever that is???) they get scores like 5-0!  I
dont know where this CONMEBOL continent is, but judging by the scores,
it aint rocking.  Not to mention where are the snowstorms?  There are
two things I have learned in life.  Never trust a person who does not
drink and never trust a continent that doesnt have snowstorms.

just look at the closeness of the CONCACAF table.

Look at the Goal Difference!

The goal difference of a group is inversely proportional to the
rockingness of that Continent.

Even if you are actually Canadian, you have to realise the match in
Colorado probably wasn't regular (what an NFL scene with the tractors
shovelling the snow off like that!).  We said we should use our home
field advantage so we gave them not only snow but a blizzard, and not
only that but a proper Denver Blizzard!  Not even the Russians do stuff
like this :-)

Of course, as Jim G will remind us, that is CONCACAF!

I've got to admit, they make a strong case for Binder's rockingest confederation claim.

Btw, that second picture... can you tell me where exactly the ball is?

(I *think* I found it, but would like to check with you guys, who are more used to football in such weather :-))

I am not saying we dont get the odd blizzard something like that here
on the Iceberg, but yes that blizzard Rocked!

Not surprisingly, the Costa Ricans did file a protest the next day.  I
doubt it will come to anything, since the players seemed to be OK with
the snow during the game?  Or maybe it is just one of those things,
where you get this childlike euphoric feeling during a snow storm,
where you just want to go outside and play in the snow and then
realize the next day, WTF?

I have played in snow but nothing like that and it essentially just
turns into a game of kickball.  Then again is it any worse then
playing in 40C degree heat?

Watching the game on tv, it was quite difficult to see the ball at
times.  I am sure for the players it is fine, but like I said it was
the most snow I had ever seen a game being played in.  Outside of
those drunken kickarounds we might have while ice fishing.

Not so fast! Your celebrated hex is the *fourth* stage in a long
qualification process, where the poor blue collar countries were put
through two merciless stages where only the winner would move one.

Meanwhile, the rich, onepercenter, country club nations with their Ivy
League old boys network, got a free ride to the third stage. Yes, in
CONCACAF it's one law for the rich and another for the poor.
