America Believes its own Lies Which Leads to Colossal Defeats

By Samer Khoury

Vietnam, the Tet Offensive, Lebanon, and now in N.Y. America has a habit
of promoting distorted propaganda, only to have those lies blow up in
its face.  First lets review Americas policy in Lebanon prior to the
killing of 241 Marines by terrorists in 1983.  Israel had invaded and
pillaged Lebanon in the summer of 1982, which the Begin/Sharon regime
launched for the purpose of destroying the political structure of the
PLO so as to avoid entering into peace talks based on the implementation
of the binding United Nations Security Council Resolution 242; which
calls on Israel to withdraw from the area it captured during its
six-day offensive in 1967.  This atrocious military fiasco had resulted
in the deaths of 20,000 Lebanese and Palestinian civilians, 2000 of
which were massacred at the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps.  Americas
involvement in the war and the illegal killings is undeniable.  The
Reagan administration had given the Israelis a green-light to launch
the invasion.  Then Secretary of State Alexander Haig favored the
invasion because he thought it could lead to the establishment of a
friendly regime in Beirut.  The U.S. was giving Israel billions of
dollars in military aid as it continues to do so today (Americas foreign
aid package is currently at five billion dollars).  In other words the
U.S. pays for every F-16, F-15, Apache helicopter, tank, and gun the
Israelis use and then gives them cash on top of that to keep them oiled
up.  The U.S. knew of Israels past ***y tactics as well as the
personal histories of the two Israeli leaders that were to launch the
war; Ariel Sharon and Manachim Begin, both of which had previously been
involved in mass civilian killings.  Despite being in a position to stop
the war before it started, the U.S. encouraged it.  By September 1982
the PLO had evacuated West Beirut where they had been surrounded by IDF
(Israeli Defense Forces), The Israelis had poured bombs and artillery
into Beirut killing 10,000 innocents until the U.S. brokered a deal in
which the PLO would leave Lebanon for other Arab countries; but Israel
was now stuck in an endless guerilla war with other Lebanese resistance
forces and didnt know how it was ever going to get out of Lebanon.  Out
of frustration Ariel Sharon ordered Phalange thugs into the Palestinian
refugee camps with instructions to kill terrorists even though he knew
the PLO had left the camps undefended when they departed and there were
no militants in the camps.  They systematically carried out the
slaughter while the Israeli army, which had the camps surrounded,
watched and listened to the terror.  Israeli soldiers just outside the
camps had reported the killings as soon as they began but were told by
there superiors not to interfere (Ariel Sharon is currently being
investigated by a Belgium war crimes court for his role in the
massacres.)  The occurrence of the massacre forced the U.S. to send a
peace keeping force consisting of U.S. Marines and augmented by French
and Italian troops.  The Americans took over the Israeli positions in
West Beirut and the airport and the Israelis moved their occupation
army just south of the Marines positions while the French and Italians
were north of the Americans.  Not long after the peace-keepers moved in
problems with the Israelis arouse.  The Israelis started firing into the
American zone, much to the displeasure and anger of the Marines.  The
Israelis complained that Shia guerrilla fighters, who were continuing to
fight the Israeli occupation, the terrorists as the Israelis called
them were attacking their positions by infiltrating from the American
zone.  The Marines had little empathy for the IDF as they were a
peace-keeping force; their only mission was to keep Beirut and its
citizens safe from war and it was not their concern who was a
terrorist and who was not; there were numerous militias in Lebanon and
the Israelis were one of the armies there.  The Begin regime used their
Jewish lobbyist friends in Washington to pressure American politicians
to force the Marines to help the Israelis fight terrorists.
Washington gave into the domestic pressure group and the Marines were
forced to announce that they would no longer allow terrorists to exist
and that they would crack-down on terrorism.  As soon as the Americans
made this move the Shia resistance started attacking them, firing
machine guns and rockets at the Marine positions.  From the perspective
of the guerillas the Americans had declared war on them by agreeing to
help the Israelis.  Soon the Marines were firing back lobbying ship
based artillery shells into the mountains were the Shia and Druze were
engaging the Phalange, which were battling on the side of the Americans
and Israelis.  The U.S. even reequipped and re-activated the Lebanese
Air Forces fleet of Hunter-Hawker Jets which started pounding the
mountains.  Despite the fact that the U.S. had by now stumbled into
Israels war, it continued to believe its own lie that it was still a
peace-keeping force and not an occupier-aggressor.  Security at the
Marine barracks was light that October morning because who would want to
attack this pleasant peace-keeping force.  The Americans were
convinced that they were not at war.  A lone truck driver easily
breeched the outer security and plunged a truck-load of high explosives
into a building that was being used as a barracks killing 241 Marines.
A few months later the U.S. was forced to abandon Lebanon seeing that
the mission had turned into an endless quagmire.  The last helicopter
flew off into the sunset as the Marines were hastily re-deployed to
their awaiting ships off the Lebanese coast and they sailed away
defeated.  The resistance advanced into West Beirut and the Airport area
and conquered the former U.S. Israeli stronghold.  A few years later the
Phalange in East Beirut were gone as well.
Now we come to the modern era.  After the U.S. and her allies pushed
Iraq out of Kuwait in the early 1990s the allied armies went home.  The
Egyptians, Syrians, French, Italians, and most of the British all went
home, the war having been won.  The Americans on the other hand decided
to stay, their bases in Saudi-Arabia and Kuwait, as well as Bahrain and
the UAE, became permanent much to the annoyance of nationalist and
Islamic opposition groups in those autocratic countries.  The U.S.
decided to quietly launch a new war against Iraq.  This time not for
territory but for attrition.  The U.S. decided that it would punish Iraq
in a sustained campaign until it relented and removed the Saddam Hussein
regime from power.  This war of attrition would hit Iraqs poor and
defenseless civilian population the hardest.  The U.S. used its veto
power at the U.N. Security Council to keep crippling sanctions in-place,
even though the other members wanted to relax them.  This action denied
the Iraqi people necessary medical immunizations and pharmaceuticals as
well as food.  The result was thousands of Innocent Iraqis killed, there
is debate as to what the real number of Iraqis killed by the stiff
sanctions is but it is clearly much higher than the death toll from the
WTC/Pentagon attacks.  But there was more to this cruel war, American
fighter planes would violate Iraqi air-space daily, often dropping bombs
at suspected military targets which would often kill and maim scores of
civilians.  At the time of the WTC/Pentagon attacks this war of
attrition was continuing, but of course America wasnt really at war
as the Iraqi casualties of the war were rarely reported on and usually
failed to make front-page news.  As if this were not enough a second war
of attrition had broken out.  After Yasser Arafat had refused to accept
Clinton/Baraks kinder gentler form of apartheid at Camp David which
fell far short of UN 242, a war of attrition broke out; a second
Intifada.  The Israelis would use far harsher tactics to quell this
uprising against their illegal occupation of the West Bank and Gaza
Strip.  American supplied and paid for Apache Helicopters, tanks,
machine guns, even F-16s and F-15s would all be called in to pound the
Palestinians into submission.  Furthermore a strict internal closure
would block the Palestinians from even traveling inside their own
territory and Jewish settlers would harass the indigenous population
further with killing and shootings.  The settlers and the army
continually uprooted crops and trees and burned fields.  Demolition of
Palestinian housing continued and there were regular reports of torture
in prisons and abuse at Israeli military checkpoints.  The closure
became so tight that it basically imprisoned 3.2 million Palestinians.
In Hebron racist 24 hour curfews against the indigenous population were
imposed as the settlers rampaged the city attacking and destroying
buildings and shops.
In September 2001 despite the fact that America was currently engaged in
two wars of attrition spanning from the Mediterranean to the Persian
Gulf America was convinced that it really wasnt at war all those
Iraqis and Palestinians being killed everyday by a racist and ***ous
U.S. foreign policy; America convinces itself that its not really
happening and that America doesnt really have a hand in it.  America
was innocent; this lie was shattered on the morning of September 11.
What were seeing being started in Afghanistan today is actually a
continuation of the conflict that has been escalating since 1967 when
the Israelis illegally occupied Arab territories.  It works something
like this - in the 1960s America funnels billions of ...

Can we please win one match outside of the USA before we make these comments?

Look who's talking, i wonder why Arafat
made 'crimes against humanity' I'm
sure it has nothing to do with US
support of Isral's brutal occupation
of the West bank and gaza strip.

I am thinking of changing it later on to something
like "Posse of Saladin" as Saladin was a great religious leader!

<article snipped for length> You know it would
be would a good idea to cite references, whether
you get the information from the Web,Usenet or
offline. For example,I had to scour Usenet to find
that article about the 4000 WTC workers missing
the day of the attack. I did manage to find it,but
it took some legwork.

My bad, my apologies to you.  BTW, don't try to get into a reasoned private
discussion with Cookie guy via email trying to get him to address anything
directly.  It's a mistake I won't make again.

Yeah, he had that look all about him.  Unfortunately there seem to
be an endless supply of those guys over here.  I've put four folks
in my killfile over the last two days.  Sigh.
