Ireland was denied a probable WC spot, US were denied 2 goals and now
England. How many of us are with me?
May be we can send emails to FIFA with the same subject line.

Unless you turned the camera off for Given's drag-down of Anelka, no.

No. it was a fair result. Given cheated minutes before Henry did by taking
Anelka down in the box:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0_vo8OwMBTs

and they'll you that before the Henry foul there was a Given foul, etc ...
which is the reason they don't want video replay.

Oh no!

I am quite convinced of keeping technology out of the play entirely
(in fact, I am irritated by the electronic board used to indicate
player exchanges...or even electric lights used to illuminate the
pitch...play all games in the day light!)

In truth, if the ENG-GER match ends as the result stands now, I think
there will be endless amu***t and entertainment hearing England
supporters ***ing and moaning for the next four years and
beyond...that they wuz robbed!  Especiallly the anti-tech England
supporters.

That's what they all want.  The privilege of complaining.

I probably miss your post asking for video when Ireland got a bogus
penalty vs Georgia in 2010 WC qualifier.

They don t have email yet. They discovered faxes recently and as you
know, they are a little bit technology scared

The Germans made the debate academic by kicking it all out of the also-
ran which came in 2nd in Group C.

I can hardly believe that the Group C leader would have been as
equally as pathetic the German opponent was today.

A simply adoption of the Europa Cup's extra assistant referees behind
the goal line would have caught both Henry's illegitimate play  and
the ball landing over the line on Lampard's shot, to say nothing of
other penalty incidents.

First of all, I have to withdraw an earlier half time comment about
the linesman. He was in fact exactly where he was supposed to be, even
with the last German defender.  He blew the call but he was in
position.

Secondly, I remain opposed to VIDEO REPLAY.  However, there is a
very simple solution to situations like the one today, one parallel to
what is done in hockey.  Simply designate an official to sit in a
protected area with two video monitors, each showing a goal-line
camera like the one we saw the truth on today.  And have a light on
the scoreboard which HE will flash when a goal has been scored. If he
says it's a goal, it is. If he doesn't, it isn't.  You could, I
suppose, give him the right to replay the tape, but actually that
wouldn't have been necessary either in 1966 or for this one, much less
for the incredible***up in the United-Spurs game of some years
back, which was even worse than this.

Meanwhile, anyone who doesn't think Germany didn't deserve to win that
game is an idiot.  I'm not convinced they really are that good.  But
compare their game with Ghana, which remember, THEY HAD TO WIN, with
this one.   I don't think they got a single breakaway in that game.
That's because Ghana, unlike England, plays defense.

FWIW, I'm with you.
I don't know about Ireland, the US or even England, Germany may have
won anyway, that's besides the point. It's simply wrong to have that
many incorrect decisions in high-profile games. It was 4 years ago, it
is now and it will be as long as the morons don't introduce
technology.

That said, and as an aside note since it's off-topic, England really
didn't look like world beaters, in this game and in their others. I
want to maybe be the first to say it, they were a lot better under SGE.
