Scolari insists he could still be England manager

Scolari says "Being coach of England] is a dream for every coach in
the world and I was very happy when it happened. [The FA] were very
correct about everything. Everything happened in a very good
atmosphere, the FA did everything officially, and they contacted the
Portuguese Federation asking them if they can talk with me"

"I desire the best for England, I very much like the people" said
Scolari yesterday. "I hope people understand the situation and one day,
why not, I can coach the English team, when I am free."

The Guardian article [1] goes onto explain why Scolari did not accept
the offer of the England job recently (he had commitments to Portugal
and he did not want to compromise his position with them by signing a
new contract before the job was done".

It will be interesting to see how England fair in the final stages of
the World Cup, but my person view is that Scolari is a better manager
and he could do more with England's world class players than
Ericsson.

What do those on this newsgroup reckon.  Do you reckon Scolari is a
better coach than Sven (and indeed Steve Maclaren) and can he get more
out of England than them

I can't see the FA appointing Scolari after his treachery. I was very
much in favour of Scolari, but he came across as fickle and unreliable.

If he's like that before being appointed, he would suffer in the job.

At least Sven had the guile to wait until he had our money first.

If Scolari goes to England then that is more than fine with me. I'm all
for the move, and I think England and Portugal will both benefit from
it. The thing is, I wish he would shut.the.***.up about it until the
WC is over with. Argh! That really gets on my last nerve, Scolari;
focus on the tournament with your current team who has a damn good
chance of winning  the whole freakin' thing. I'm sure you are happay
abou

Agreed partially, however if you guys have a young English player
having a breakout season next year, and was unquestionably the best
player in all of the Premiership, that  came out of nowhere to impress
anyone and everyone, don't expect Big Fil  to call said player up for
any national team games.

In case you were wondering, I'm elluding to Quaresma. Which I am still
pissed about.
