Because they got a 40m striker in Suarez at half that price.

I don't want to jump the gun, but he is quickly turning into the best player
in the league, no sarcasm either, he is genuinely up there as the best
IMO!!!

He is remarkably well-rounded. Can shoot, pass, cross, dribble, has
great awareness, and moves beautifully off the ball. I changed my
mind, I'm upping his value to 50m. Btw who is this Fernando Torres
guy that the commentators keep referring to, I don't see him anywhere
on the scorers chart, is he a striker?

His diving is right up there with Cristiano Ronaldo's, too.

Awesome, let's make it 55m then.

Suarez is something else. Maybe not as clinical a finisher as Torres in
his prime, but for a pure forward his workrate is immense, he drops very
deep to get the ball and is a constant threat.

My favourite move today was the 30 meter cross with the outside of his
foot which was followed by the Henderson goal...

That was a piece of brilliance only very special players are capable
of. Talking of Carroll, did you see him day dreaming as Downing's
cross sailed in front of his face and across goal? With every passing
game he looks less like the next Shearer and more like the next
Crouch. And Ferguson might be right in that Adam's set pieces alone
may be worth 10 million. He is averaging almost a goal a game from set-
pieces. Henderson on the other hand looks like a very mediocre talent,
his nice finish today notwithstanding. Jose Enrique has been a nice
attacking threat from the left, once Johnson returns our fullbacks
will be a handful to deal with. Finally Downing, two thumbs up so
far.

So it looks like at this early stage that Dalglish got it right with
Suarez, Downing, Enrique, and Adam, while Carroll and Henderson have
been underwhelming. Things could change with time of course.

The thing is, Henderson and Carroll are very young. All the other
players you mention are seasoned professionals, Henderson and Carroll
have had two full seasons in the topflight between them.

I just hope Dalglish has the sense to bench them once in a while.

And talking on benching, I started wishing for Suarez to be withdrawn
right after the third goal. Why not take him off right then, to preserve
his energy and lessen the risk of injuries?

Watching the game. Henderson is doing well today, almost had a
hattrick of assists. Kuyt was very close to converting his cross, and
had the presence of mind to one-touch Suarez through whose chip went
agonizingly over.

But yes, he has a lot to grow, first of all, out of that blazing
metro***  persona (he acts like Ronaldo without teh skilz);
secondly, improve his concentration, there were patches he completely
drifted out of the game.

The movement upfront was fantastic -- they should bench Carroll more
often :-)

On a related note, I legit forget that Gerrard's been out. In fact
he's barely feautured since Kenny took over because of injury.  Note
that this is not a knock on him necessarily.

Liverpool is rapidly turning into a one-man team.

Better than a no-man team.
