Suker says sorry for his miss

by Steve Stammers

Davor Suker apologised to his Arsenal teammates as his
missed spot-kick led to defeat in the UEFA Cup Final
against Galatasaray, who won 4-1 on penalties after the
two teams had drawn 0-0 in Copenhagen.

The Croatian will leave the club on a free transfer this
summer and his last kick for Arsenal was their first penalty
that hit the inside of the post.

"I apologised to the players in the dressing room afterwards,"
said Suker. "It was one of the worst moments of my career.
As for the future, I don't know what will happen."

Meanwhile, Arsenal captain Tony Adams insisted today
that Arsenal will emerge stronger from their
disppointment.

"I was proud of the dignity we showed in defeat. There are
more trophies left in this team. The Fat Lady hasn't stopped
singing yet. It is not how you protect yourself when you are
falling that is important - it is how you pick yourself up."
