US-VENEZUELA RESULT WANTED

USA - Venezuela 3-3.

i stayed up to 02:30 AM local time too see the match - quite enjoyable - but
with some horrible mistakes in defence from the US in the last 25 minutes.
US were up 3-0 and heading for a possible place in the quarter finals when
their nightmare started ... they also had some real chances to make it 4-1 -
but poor finishing ended Bora's hope of a place in the quarter.

Venezuela had 4-5 chances and scored on 3 of them ! I was not to
impressed with the US goalie - a top class keeper would have saved one of the
goals. Also the US defence positioning was bad - very much so on the last
venezuelan goal.

So bye bye USA :-(  (and thank you Eurosport --)

US-VENEZUELA RESULT WANTED

The score was 2-0 to USA. I only caught the last 15 minutes, so I have no
more details. However, the second US goal (about 5 minutes from the end) was
an appalling referee/linesman decision. The 'goal' was fairly similar to
the 1966 WC final when Geoff Hurst hit the ball onto the bar and it bounced
down onto the goal line and out again. However, this time the TV replays were
absolutely clear-cut - it was never a goal. All of the Venezuelans surrounded
the ref and linesman for quite a long time, but the goal stood.
