Gardiens de but

* Fabien Barthez (Olympique de Marseille)
* Grgory Coupet (Olympique Lyonnais)
* Micka?l Landreau (FC Nantes Atlantique)

Dfenseurs

* Eric Abidal (Olympique Lyonnais)
* Jean-Alain Boumsong (Newcastle United FC) (great ... has been the biggest
liability of the team the last 2 years, suck when playing for his club)
* Pascal Chimbonda (Wigan) (what the *** ?)
* William Gallas (Chelsea FC)
* Ga?l Givet (AS Monaco)
* Willy Sagnol (FC Bayern Munich)
* Mika?l Silvestre (Manchester United FC) (errr...)
* Lilian Thuram (Juventus Turin)

Milieux de terrain

* Vikash Dhorasoo (Paris-Saint-Germain FC)
* Alou Diarra (RC Lens) (lol)
* Claude Makelele (Chelsea FC)
* Florent Malouda (Olympique Lyonnais)
* Patrick Vieira (Juventus Turin)
* Zinedine Zidane (Real Madrid)

Attaquants

* Djibril Ciss (Liverpool FC)
* Thierry Henry (Arsenal)
* Franck Ribry (Olympique de Marseille)
* Louis Saha (Manchester United FC)
* David Trezeguet (Juventus Turin)
* Sylvain Wiltord (Olympique Lyonnais)

no Anelka, no Pires, no Giuly, even if I think there were enough room for
him and Ribery.

Domenech announced Barthez would be the #1 which is just ridiculous. If
Ribery settles well in the team and doesn't lose his nerves, we could do
well. Otherwise, we won't make it past the quarters. Domenech hopes to be
champion

I don't think that the selection or non-selection of certain players
will make a great deal of difference to the chances of France winning.
It really depends on whether the starting eleven can play as a unit,
deal with pressure, defend with ease and score goals.

I can understand Anelka's non-selection, on pure skill, I think he's
certainly better than Ciss and Saha.  But if there is one player who
could destabilise a squad, it would be Anelka.  However, that doesn't
explain the point of him being selected in France's past few games.
Barthez or Coupet, I don't think it matters too much. Both are excellent
goalkeepers, Barthez has the advantage of experience, but that won't
count for much if the defence is weak.
Boumsong, I've never seen him play for Newcastle, so the fact that his
sucks at club level is a surprise as he's generally played quite well
for France.  Dhorasoo, as I PSG supporter I should be pleased, but I
don't think he can play at an international level.  He might have played
1, maybe 2, good games for France.  I would never have selected Ciss,
time and time again, he proves his selfishness and his lack of
awareness.  He might have scored a few for France, but he's never played
well.
I feel sorry for Guily, I don't think he's ever really been given a
chance, and when it has happened, he gets injured.

My starting eleven would be:

Coupet
Sagnol
Thuram
Gallas
Abidal
Vieira
Makelele
Zidane
Wiltord
Malouda
Henry

Hi

I don't have much to say, no matter who Domenech's choses there will be
complaints (Good for any other teams too.).
I would have prefered Coupet than Barthez, Barthez is the past to me, a
nice one that is but still the past.
Ribery is great news, I would rather fail with a rookie squad than fail
with old timers.
Giuly not there is a disappointment to me too.

No matter what..."Allez les bleus"

I am happy Dhorasoo has been included. He has a lot of skills,
and may inspire other Indians to take up the game !!

Very sad to see Giuly left out, he has been in great form and is
one of the best wingers when so.

Why has Micoud been left out, is he injured?

Domenech has never selected Micoud.  That wasn't going to change on Sunday.

I can only image that Micoud has done or said something in the past to
merit his exclusion.

Yes, I was surprised to see Me July being left out too. Did Domenech
give a reason?
