My team plays with one tactic : boot the ball down the wings and try to
cross into the box, or win corners and throw-ins from which the ball can
be sent over. We do this so relentlessly that the opposition has us sussed
after about 10 minutes (5 minutes if they are any good). We don't worry that
any shoddy old defense knows how to deal with this ploy; because if we do
it all the time, sooner or later a goal will come. If the opposition get
the ball, we lunge in to every tackle, without regard for protecting our
goal. Of course, this means that they will inevitably score a couple of
goals, but like I say, we just keep attacking down the flanks and hope to
force enough goals to win. So far, this has worked out OK, as shown by our
league position and goals scored.
Our supporters get quite irritated by the lack of variety in our
tactic. In fact, if we aren't winning, they feel insulted and would rather
not have to watch. However, since we come from the home of football, where
it is still loved and cherished by the people, the supporters always
forgive us and come back for more. The away fans, on the other hand,
consider our style to ruin the game, and wonder what's the point of
football if we are going to do this to it.
Who are we ?
