Marlborough 20  (B.Clarke, R.Finch, D.Hamilton tries, R Finch pen,con)

Zimbabwe wing Karl Mudzamba scored three tries as Hawkes Bay opened
their second division NPC campaign with a big win against Marlborough in
Napier (Keesville) on Saturday. All three tries were solo efforts.
Zimbabwe team mate Antony Papenfus kicked seven goals from nine
attempts.

In other matches, favourites Bay of Plenty scrapped out a 19-16 win in
Wanganui, last years champions Nelson Bays defeated King country 27-17,
while former Vikings partner Manawatu won 38-18 away to Mid Canterbury.

Nelson Bays 27

Hawkes Bay remained at the top of division two after defeating  reigning
second division champions Nelson Bays in Napier on Saturday. Once again
Zimbabwe international Antony Papenfus dominated the scoring with a try,
three penalties and three conversions. Next week the Magpies play away
to favourites Bay of Plenty who had a bye this weekend.

In other matches Manawatu maintained their unbeaten run with 25-15 win
over Thames Valley, King Country edged out Wanganui 28-27 while
Marlborough defeated Mid Canterbury 17-8.
