For the reason that in the advent of a British League, participants will be
required to have a minimum capacity in excess of what St.Helens currently
enjoys. 10,000.

As to whether a BL gets off the ground is a different matter. 2001/02 I
believe has already been ruled out by the RFU.

Can't see how they would be able to share with the swans. I remember many
Saturdays when the whites would be playing at the same time. It's a shame
they couldn't spend the money on upgrading St Helens.

The turf at the Morfa will be on casters - much like the Millenium Stadium
was on pallets. This means that one team can play on a Friday night and if
the pitch is damaged they can swap it for the other pitch at short notice.
They just wheel one on - and the other off. The casters will be "locked"
during the game for safety reasons.

There was talk that advertisers would foot the bill for all this as one
pitch would carry the footie adverts and the other the adverts for the
Great Whites.

I think the problem was that they couldn't develop St.Helens for some reason
or other.

Remember that both the Vetch and St.Helens are in prime Sea-Front
positions...must be worth a bit
