NPC: Waikato side to face Canterbury in the RS Challenge

I was recently informed by Paul Kendall that for various reasons,  Waikato
have not fielded the same XV in two consecutive games this season.  Since
I have been wrong on every occaision I have attempted to name the side,  I
expect this week to be no different.

1.  Collins
2.  Mantell
3.  Martin
4.  Willis
5.  Cooksley
6.  Hopa
7.  Anglesea
8.  Muir
9.  Duggan
10. Foster
11. Randle
12. Cooper
13. McLeod
14. Reihana
15. Miller

Res.  Spice, Jackson, Lowen, Houlten, Wheeler, Coventry, Smith, Briggs

With the injury to Michael Collin's knee still in doubt,  he may not start
in which case David Briggs will start at loosehead.  With Nick Houlten
coming back from a back injury,  we should see him on the bench.  A lot of
debate has raged over which first five to play.  My personal opinion is
based on the rather soggy weather we are currently having,  which would
lend favour towards Ian Foster's deft kicking game as opposed to Jacksons
cheeky running style.

It wasn't. ;-)

Waikato coach John Boe has sprung a few surprises.  The changes to the
team named above are:

* Fijian *** Greg Smith returns in place of Nick Mantell
* Richard Coventry will be the starting lock with Royce Willis based
purely on form, although Mark Cooksley is still not considered to be 100%
fit after his hand injury

* As expected captain Ian Foster will start at 1st 5 because of his
experience and leadership
* Michael Collins has recovered from a knee injury

Damian Karauna has been preferred to Keith Lowen on the reserve bench
while Holten is also excluded.

Expect Boe to use most of his bench at some stage.
