Finally someone had the balls to oust Connolly.

Big changes in store for QLD, and hopefully we can keep some of our stars at
home now.

From AAP:

Long serving Queensland rugby union coach John Connolly has been axed
with former Wallaby Mark McBain today appointed to guide the Reds for
the next two seasons.
The QRU announced the appointment at a news conference in Brisbane
today. Connolly had coached Queensland since 1989, guiding the Reds to
two Super 10 titles and two minor premierships in the Super 12
competition.

The QRU board yesterday interviewed four candidates for the coaching
position including Connolly, former All Black Grant Batty, Australian
under 21 coach and former Wallaby Tom Barker and McBain.

A QRU statement said McBain, who played seven Tests and 67 matches for
Queensland, would bring "fresh ideas" to Queensland rugby.

I think it's a good move -- but let's not forget what Knuckles has
done for Qld. No one can doubt Connolly's committment to the Qld
jersey -- and despite what you may think Ian his record as coach of
Qld is impressive. But time stands still for no one, and it definitely
is time Qld had an injection of new ideas.

Who?? Even living in Australia I've never heard of him.

Still, Connolly had been there way too long. I'm surprised he's lasted
till now given Qld's very average S12 results.
