Somerville at 1, not 3?  Has he played LH much?

I wouldn't exactly call this a *test* Will. Gibson won't be in the real team
when its announced. Personally I think he shouldn't even be in the squad.

Gibsons the ideal bench player for the A.B's covering 12 and 13. Hes shown
that he can play off the bench. Top teams are no longer just 15 specialist
positions but more like 16 or 178 a utility back and a utility forward (from
Mitchs comments a player who can cover lock and blindside e.g Flavel, Levi
or Thorn -the league convert) .

Would I be right in saying that Brown wouldn't have made the All Black 22
and McCaw would have made it over Flavell (is he an opensider?) so the only
players you are really missing are Cribb and Oliver.  Not quite as
significant as the wallabies 5 or  6 injuries especailly in their backline.

So true.  Best since Dalton & Taylor got crocked
in 1987.  But Brown is no miss with Mauger around.
Oliver has to be the ABs' only significant deprivation
right now.

No, Brown would have.  I think Mitchell made that relatively clear in some
of his post selection interviews.

Flavell plays blindside and it seems that (reading between the lines),
Flavell and Cribb may not have been selected if fit anyway.

Brown might well have been picked - he was the leading S12 point scorer when
he pulled out injured and is the usual pairing with Merhts.

Don't think Cribb would have been selected thou - in fact, the NZRFU said as
much.

Cheers,

Peter.
