Weekend Currie Cup Results

Well to pretty big surprises over the weekend with Western Province going
down 39-25 to Boland and Griqua taking out the Golden Lions by 30-something
points to 12 .  Considering Griquas form this season perhaps the second was
really a big shock and they looked far better than the Lions in all phases.
I did however miss the WP game and want to know from anyone who did wether
Boland have raised their game or if Province have dropped their level of
play.  It seems that buying
Dan Van Zyl hasn't helped things much although I'm not sure if he played on
Saturday.  It seems to me that the Currie Cup favourites are the Blue Bulls
and Griquas with Natal and Free State needing to improve to match the pace
of these two.  The Lions seem to lack experience as well as a decent
scrum-half while Province seem to be on a downward curve.

It's a shame to hear WP not doing so well, the Stormers are my 2nd fav S12 team
after the Huckiranes. Once Bobby Skinstad gets back they'll be unbeatable though

Bobby played Gerard. Boland were just too good for them. What seems
to be happening in Currie Cup (and from what I hear NPC as well) is
that many older players have accepted "pensions" to go play for
Pom clubs when Currie Cup is over.

This has given so much hope to the up-and-coming youngsters, they are
grabbing the opportunity and playing outa their skulls. With you guys
it's Waikato & Otago leading the charge, here it's Griquas & Boland.

Skinstad is in Malaysia with the sevens for the CG. But even with him I don't
think the result would have been different!
