NEWSFLASH update on Jonah Lomu

At a press conference called today (January 24) at 2.30pm New Zealand time,
the NZRFU confirmed that Jonah Lomu will be unavailable for all rugby for at
least the next 6 months.

Lomu has chronic kidney disease which was first diagnosed two years ago.
Doctors have been keeping a close eye on his condition and have noticed a
moderate deterioration over the last three months.  They have decided that
"treatment is a necessary option" and Lomu is to undergo intensive treatment
over the next three months.  Kidney specialists give him a 50% chance of
recovery, however Lomu says he is very positive about making a full recovery
and returning to rugby this season.

And before anybody starts crowing about how the All Blacks will be
vulnerable without Jolly Jonah, let's all remember that Jonah has been
carrying this condition for some time and has not been a regular in the
All Blacks in 1996.

It probably started when he was poisoned in South Africa.
