"We had to cut costs. If this improves the show, all
the better. We'll have a good idea when we get to
Australia. All will depend on the work of McLaren
and Williams as compared to Ferrari, and also by
Michelin" insisted the FIA President.

"All will depend on the work of McLaren and Williams as compared to
Ferrari"...

I thought it was supposed to be about cost control?

If McLaren and Williams get close, change the rules!

Care to provide a source, so this quote can be viewed in context?

Isn't that selfevident? They absolutely have to do something because
if this season will be the same again FIA and F1 are really in trouble.

Last year was the most boring and repetive season ever. I've been
watching of F1 over 15 years now and the first time I wasn't bother
to use VCR at all and usually was doing something else while watching.
Even there has been invincible teams earlier as well but then both of
the drivers at least have been competing against each others. Well,
notably exception was Benetton in the Schumacher era (surprise, surprise).

Please refrain from making sense in the future..
The rumblings are from Ferrari fanatics as they are worried that it
may cause their team some harm.
If the FIA did nothing now, in 3-4 years time they'd be out there with
the rest of us fans, whining about the FIA's neglect causing the
demise of the formula when it's 5 remaining teams decided to fold up
their tents, due to the deafening silence from the grandstands and
willing broadcasters.

That echo in your empty head seems to get worse by the day.
