I mean, it's woefully obvious just how much better CART is than F1, but
does it really need to be this glaring?

It's woefully obvious that people should be aware that a lot of CART drivers
drove a shit load of miles in F1 cars before becoming CART drivers.

You make Montoya sound like he came from Kansas and was a corn-fed baseball
little leaguer who raced dirt's like Billy Boat.

Rik,

I liked his comment on the Friday at Sepang.  He said that although he
didn't drive the track much, what he saw of it he liked.  :)  He had a bad
day.

*** off back under your stone, moron. That was a superb race, better
than most CART races. If you had any brains you'd just enjoy the race
like a true racing fan and stick your pathetic "CART is better than
F1" trolls up JPM's rapidly disappearing tailpipe.

BTW, are you enjoying Schumacher's discomfiture as much as me...?

I liked his comment about his qualifying spin: "I was taking it easy
on my first run at the other two GPs. Today I decided not to do that."
Followed by a big grin. I warm to him more and more. At last, I have
another driver to enthusiastically support...

It is woefully apparent that some people forget how appalling Zanardi and
Michael Andretti were!!!  It is not a given that if one does well in CART,
then one could do the same in F1, as the two drivers I mention prove.

It's the one time of the year you can say that and
not be called a troll, so you're going to take full
advantage, aren't you?

Amen to that, David. I really admired the qualities JPM displayed in
CART, time and again, and was expecting him to provide fireworks in F1.
To-day's GP was a race to remember for some time. Most enjoyable F1 race
in ages, what with the other youngsters doing so well too.

If that were true then why wouldn't everyone in CART jump ship to F1 for the
big money?

Wasn't it just? Brilliant race!

Young Nick hid his talents last year but he's becoming another
potential star. Kimi and Fernando look like they can do the business
too. The old guard is changing. But I can't believe that DC is already
30...

Various reasons for that well documented.  But the one factor I think
may go the furthest to explain it, is *age!*

Andretti - After so long in CART, he had become so set in his ways, that
he just couldn't adapt to a different way of doing things.  Couple that
with his seeming lack of commitment, a confidence sapping car & team
mate, and a very expensive test driver taking all the precious testing
time, the results were never going to come.

Zanardi - A bit of a mystery, but again, just like Andretti, coming
(back) to F1 well into his 30s after becoming accustomed to CART, he too
just couldn't adapt.

Villeneuve - Young, brash & hungry.  Best car in field allowed
confidence to develop quickly - Results soon followed.

Montoya - Young, brash & hungry.  Not the best car, but a damn good one.
Confidence came quickly - Results undoubtedly soon to follow.

So indeed, you get some 30+ established CART star in F1, and they would
probably struggle.  But the young hotshots are a whole different story.

Montoya, whether he likes it or not, is representing those guys.  If he
does well, it makes the likelihood of other young CART racers with F1
aspirations, coming over and joining him.

It's just such a pity that Greg Moore couldn't be here to take his
rightful place.
