The most interesting part is that the were all powered by a Ford
engine. Maby the manufacturers were good but not the enigne.
And now Sauber is running with a Ford engine, and look were they are.
A say a nomination for worst engine.

No, I think the original poster was correct.  As I remember it,
Jordan's engine supplier's have been:

        1991:   Ford (customer engine)
        1992:   Yamaha
        1993:   Hart
        1994:   Hart
        1995:   Peugot (spelling?)
        1996:   Peugot

Team Andrea Moda were in a league of their own when it came to crapness.
They make Pacific, Forti et al look positively professional.

During the mid to late '70's, almost everything was powered by Ford/Cosworth.
The Ford/Cosworth of that era is the most successful engine in racing history!

One word. Life.

They had a W-12 engine if I remember correctly.
I know the engine was a W configuration, I just
can't remember if it was a 12 cyl.

If you didn't get up early on Friday morning
for pre-qualifying, you never got to see this
awful pig.

Cheers,
Dave

HA! ;-) Interesting discussion. Any one remember Andrea Moda??
Just a remark, all these teams were Ford powered because it's the only
engine that's "sold" to anyone who whish it, at least the low spec
one. All other engines must have a specific contract to the engine
manufacturer to be used. Sauber is powered by the high tech Ford V-10.

Cheers,
Joao Alcino.

Nope.  Jordan started using the Hart engine in 1993; in '92 they used
the Yamaha V10, with disastrous results (they got one point all year,
and that wasn't until Australia).

I think the worst performance-to-budget-ratio must be Ferrari at the
moment ;-) ! I hope that changes as Ferrari is also representing
Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Lancia!

Give them a break... Ferrari develops their entire car - chassis
transmission & engine.  They spend most of the big bucks on R&D. Oh yeah
they do spend some on a guy named Michael.

Nope.  In that era (mid 1970s), nearly all the teams ran the Ford DFV
engine.  The Merzarios and Reqbuqes were using the same engine that was
winning races and championships for Lotus.
