Post by Brian Lawrenc » Fri, 11 Jul 2003 18:25:13

As part of the Grand Prix report in the UK magazine Autosport, Mark Hughes
awards marks out of 10 for each driver. He rates them on the whole weekend,
not just for the race, and winning (or finishing) the race doesn't always
garner a high mark.

These were the driver ratings for Magny-Cours - points out of 10:

 9  M Schumacher, R Schumacher
8  Montoya, Coulthard, R?ikk?nen, Trulli, Webber, Panis
7  Alonso, Heidfeld, Frentzen, Fisichella, Firman, Pizzonia, Villeneuve
     Button, Wilson, Verstappen
 6  Barrichello, da Matta

Best of the season: Panis (3), Trulli (3), R Schumacher (2), Verstappen (7),
                     Pizzonia (4)

Worst of the season: Alonso (2), Barrichello (2), da Matta (3)

I'm just posting them to give _you_ the chance to disagree.

What's the point of having a 1-10 scale when only 6-10 is used ? And
that goes for the whole season.

The 4 is for the Yoongs, the 2 for the Lavaggis, the 0 is for me.

Hehe. yeah. It's much like the wine reviews in the newspapers. Every
single one gets between 4 and 6 (1-6 scale) on the merit that wine is
generally good. What's the point ? It probably needs to be something
like the worst attempt we did as students to make wine ourselves to
get a 2 I guess.

There are a couple of 5's in there, particularly JVi, Pizzonia and RS.
Last year, I'm very sure I saw several 4's and I think there was a 2 for
Yoong but I cannot remember.
