Korea Report Card

Oh dear. Well, that's two hours of my life I won't get back again. Round
and round playing follow my leader, if anyone dared overtake they got
overtaken straight back, a few passes in the pits, but really, that was
just awful.

McLaren

McLaren flattered to deceive in qualifying. Nice qualifying, shame about
the race. They may be close, but they certainly weren't right there as
appeared to be the case on Saturday. Good to see Lewis have an
incident-free race, not least given that he still found it in him to
dice with Webber for a couple of feisty laps, providing the only
e***ment in the race. Sad to see Button compromised by another unlucky
start - I say unlucky rather than poor, because he didn't get things
particularly wrong, he was just unfortunate because of what the cars
immediately in front of him were doing.

Red Bull

Despite appearances on Saturday, in the race, it was the same old same
old, with Vettel walking off into the distance. For one brief moment it
looked as if Webber had a shot, but then he could not overtake Hamilton,
and Vettel was out of reach.

Ferrari

Third best car again. Alonso seemed really out of sorts until the last
stint, he was unusually ragged and can't have enjoyed being stuck behind
Felipe. As for Massa, there was no reason for him to be behind Alonso at
the end apart from the sheer dearth of talent behind the wheel. 98
points against 212 is just embarrassing.

The rest

Petrov, no matter how much you like Schumacher, don't try to mate with
him in public. An excellent race for the Toro Rossos, and another point
for di Resta. And congratulations to Heikki for finishing ahead of both
Saubers. Lotus is getting close to being able to live with the lower of
the more established teams. Let's hope that next year they can be right
in the mix, whatever they end up being called.

Oh come off it. Did you seriously think anyone was actually going to
make a pass out there today? It was a procession, there was never any
prospect of it being anything other than a procession, and those who
claim it was really exciting just give ammunition to those who hate F1.
When a race is boring, far better to admit it is boring and say the
sport is still worth it for the races that aren't than to pretend you
have just had a major adrenaline shot.

How many passes were there today?

Did you actually watch?

etc.

I guess you must have been watching a different race from the rest of
us, judging by the comments of others here:

"This is brilliant stuff.  Four drivers in the mix, and
heart-in-your-mouth racing..."

"F1 at its very best."

"They both drove the wheels off their cars. Good job and let's hope it
puts Lewis back in the right frame of mind.
Korea is really a great track, apart from the dodgy pit exit. It's
nice to see Tilke got one right.."

Must say I thought it was a pretty good race, certainly as good as any
other this season.

Maybe you are getting jaded, Richard, and should give up watching F1
for a bit.

Yep. I enjoyed it. No where near as bad as Richard has painted it.

>How many passes were there today?

Far, far too few given the extent to which you had faster cars tucked up
behind slower cars for lap after lap after lap right up to the chequered
flag.

I think there were about four in the top 10 positions, all in
the lower half, including Alguersuari passing Rosberg on the
last lap (Rosberg running out of fuel).

I'd incline towards Richard's opinion - there were occasional
interesting bits, but overall it was a procession.

It mirrored the championship really, Vettel out in front, while
Hamilton, Button, Webber & Alonso disputed second place.

Agreed, I didn't find it particularly exciting either - but perhaps
it's also because the track seemed rather dull; I mean, apart from
(relative) lack of passes it looks just like a... Generic F1 Track,
where people go and drive around and that's it. Too easy maybe, I
don't know...

ADP.

It was one of those races where it always looked as if something
exciting was about to happen - and it didn't.

Not controversial enough, Richard. But I thought the mating with Schumacher
line was funny. :)

Ferrari - give Alonso a faster car please.
