When, exactly,  will Adrian Newey begin work at McLaren?

Is this likely to have an immediate impact upon McLaren & Wiliams or will it
be next season before any effects are noticed?

He started working at 1st August(1.8) , and according to Hakkinen he
hasnt brought nothing new to the car(dunno if hes bullshitting)
..yet, but he says it propably has a positive effect for the team to
see him in the pits at hungary already....

I think that Williams have lost lots of thinks this year
They lost Newey, Lost ELF,lost their Breaks, loosing Renault, Lost
strategy, Loosing their hair...
What will fall off next.

Do I have an evil mind or does it strike everybody as strange, that
Renault designed a New motor the year before they leave F1. Is this to
give MeccaCrome a head start or to safely Pack away some secrets hiding
in last years engine????
As commentators refer less and less to Renault as the most powerful
engine in F1, are there unseen forces at work. Maybe Villeneuve should
get a nose job, bleaching his hair didnt work???

MeccaChrome is not a new company out of the blue continuing the
development of the Renault engine - they have always been the
engineering and construction firm used by Renault to build the F1
engines - the only change is rather than have Renault paying MeccaChrome
on behalf of Williams and Bennetton in the name of sponorship the teams
will have to pay US$10-12 million per-season for the rights to use the
engines (via lease) and the team of mechanics that come along for the
ride...........Renalut was very keen to win this year's constructors'
title and leave on a winning note.......hence the 1997 improvements.

OK I take your point but last year all commentators pronounced with
certainty in there voice that the Renault was the best engine.
They often referred other engines as almost as good as the Renault but
now nobody seems to say that. OK the others are getting better but that
is the nature of the thing.
Invent or perish is a good motto for a Formula 1 team. This years motor
to me seems to be stagnating.
Dont get me wrong I have been a fan of the motor since it first
appeared but Im concerned that (like when Honda left things to Mugen,
who also were involved) we are seeing the start of a long stagnation,
dare I say decline. I hope not....

What is Mecachrome anyway?
Is it related to Renault Sport in any way, or are they just developing
Renault F1 engines [fully] next year?
